The Social Marketing and Communication (SMC) department has distinctive competence in a science-based approach to social marketing and communication to address public health and other challenges in the U.S. SMC implements a diverse portfolio of social marketing, public relations, communication, and training and technical assistance projects in the U.S. that are funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, foundations, and private associations. In the past decade, our team has worked on issues such as diabetes, emergency and pandemic preparedness, obesity prevention, sexual health, HIV/AIDS, youth financial education, cancer, asthma, immunizations, violence prevention, access to health care, and tobacco control and cessation.
The Communications Specialist II will support various communication and marketing activities within the Social Marketing and Communication Department, across a range of health communication and business development projects. This position will provide a key role in supporting a range of activities across projects that may include developing informational and promotional materials, including fact sheets, brochures posters, infographics, website content, marketing plans, e-newsletters, testimonials, and/or webinars for various audiences.
- Develops, writes and edits a variety of materials for diverse audiences including reports, case studies, newsletters, presentations, and content for websites and social media.
- Oversees production of materials, in collaboration with FHI360’s in-house graphic design team.
- Generates innovate ideas for communication outreach and develops communication plans.
- Ensures timely implementation of communication activities and monitors project against work plans.
- Provides communication support for events and webinars.
- Contributes to business development including writing sections for proposals and supporting the submission process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- At least 5-8 years of writing, editing and publications experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with publication production and editorial processes.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills; must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate, influence, and collaborate with others.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously to accomplish goals.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience working with graphic designers and a working knowledge of design concepts and practices.

- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications is required.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience writing about public health topics.
- Experience managing the materials development process.
- Prior experience working in a consulting environment.
