Associate Director, Strategic Management

The Associate Director of Strategic Management will oversee all aspects of strategic management: strategy implementation, Balanced Scorecard Card development, development of Action Plans, development of social performance management, and development of strategic points of view.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead and manage strategic implementation of organizational Strategic Goals, working closely with the Executive Team and senior management to rollout organization-wide initiatives.
  • Lead and manage the development of the Balanced Scorecard Card (BSC) framework and its implementation across the organization, including Management Priorities and multiple tiers of defining indicators, targets, and data systems.
  • Lead and manage the development of Action Plans, working closely with Operations leadership to ensure that the organizational strategic plan is executed effectively.
  • Lead and manage the development of social performance management, working closely with the Executive Team, the Board of Directors Strategy and Social Performance Committee (SSPC), and other key senior leaders.
  • Support the development of strategic “points of view” as determined by the Head of Strategy to facilitate executive-level discussion on emerging issues.
  • Support the Head of Strategy in providing internal strategic consulting to key stakeholders on issues of business strategy, change management, and process redesign.
  • This function will be critical to exploring new ways to address high-priority internal operational issues identified by the CEO and ET.
  • Manage staff to provide ongoing support to the Head of Strategy and teammates.
  • Function as member of S&I Leadership Team to collaborate with Foundation Strategy Advisor and the Associate Director of Strategic Innovation (all of whom report to the Head of Strategy).

Problem Solving & Impact:

  • Works on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. 
  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Ensures budgets, schedules and performance requirements are met. 
  • Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Ensures budgets, schedules and performance requirements are met. 
  • Manages staff and teams to support new strategic business opportunities and partnerships.
  • Makes recommendations to executive management regarding new projects to be used for strategic business decisions. 
  • Typically reports to a Director.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Related Field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with business proposals and managing new strategic business opportunities. 
  • Strong knowledge of company’s technical capacity and programs to share information and create new partnerships. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated project and proposal management skills. 
  • Demonstrated organizational and technical skills. 
  • Ability to influence, motivates, and works well with others. 
  • Ability to establish and manage relationships with external clients and executive leadership.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

Experience:

  • Typically requires 8+ years of experience with new business and proposal development work.
  • Prior experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO). 

Travel Requirements:

  • 10% - 25%
