In this position, the Associate Director will operate in a leadership role for new business development and/or technical assignments, as well as provide mentorship and/or supervision to proposal teams and/or staff. The AD will serve in a client facing role; lead efforts on strategic bids; and contribute to department, regional, technical and organizational strategies. The AD for New Business will also be key in building capacity of proposal teams and application of best practices. He/She will report to the Director for Business Development and Diversification.
- Manages and coordinates business development efforts and staff to align with strategic goals for the company. This includes, analyzing development funding trends and priorities.
- Formulates strategies, new directions, and techniques to grow the organization, and networks with clients, consultants, and counterparts regarding new business opportunities.
- Develops and manages relationships with donors and partners.
- Serves as Proposal Design Lead/Czar on proposal efforts, providing vision and leadership to proposal teams. This entails analyzing and recommending bid decisions, and conceptualizing teaming, technical approaches, and cost strategies to maximize competitive advantage and mentoring and supervising the application of best practices.
- Provides technical support with writing, reviewing, proofing and editing technical proposals for consideration.
- Travels periodically to explore new business opportunities, represent FHI360, or gather information to write a technical proposal. Interacts with key client and counterpart staff to strategically influence new programming decisions and develops and negotiates strategic partnerships with local firms.
- Consults and assists management in the development of tools and mechanisms to support business development efforts.
- Implements and trains staff to achieve department and organizational goals.
- Performs other duties assigned.

- Typically requires 8+ years of experience with new business and proposal development work.
- Prior experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or competitor for-profit.
