New Business Development provides leadership in Save the Children’s efforts to achieve greater program results at scale, especially for the most deprived, through the successful pursuit of large and strategic funding opportunities. This position helps execute the vision, strategy, and operational plan to support country and technical offices in positioning the agency to successfully compete for specific opportunities, responding to those opportunities with a quality process and product, and building and maintaining an effective BD system of tools, processes, and capacities across the agency. The AD provides technical assistance, support, and training to field and U.S.-based staff for new business development strategies and tasks from pre-RFA positioning through proposal submission. The primary focus is on large-scale, competitive fundraising opportunities from USAID and other public institutional sources.
- Manage business development relationship with thematic teams and country offices within the Middle East and Latin America, leading or supporting in the development of funding and donor engagement strategies, the cultivation of an opportunity pipeline, positioning, and opportunity capture (20%)
- Lead in proposal team management and capture management for strategic public institutional proposals, including USAID; oversee technical, operational, and cost contributions to USG proposals from thematic, country office, and partner staff; write, review, and edit proposal sections; and lead in proposal production and quality control; (50%)
- Contribute subject matter expertise to the development and the dissemination of NBD tools, resources, learning materials, and other institutional BD knowledge. Build the capacity of colleagues, driving SCUS standards for best practice in business development (15%)
- Build and strengthen relationships with and knowledge of partner organizations and represent SC effectively in teaming negotiations as well as industry networks. (5%)
- Support the analysis of Save the Children’s proposal performance, ensuring the team documents and shares lessons and conclusions and incorporates them into future proposal efforts (5%)
- Support select agency initiatives to expand into new markets or strengthen its competitiveness in new areas such as contracting, global mechanisms, and new sub-sectors (5%)

- A minimum 5-7 years of experience in international development
- Professional level of technical or managerial knowledge, skills, and experience to manage the operational activities of a unit or team, or provide the technical and management support related to various size programs, grants or projects
- At least 5 years of experience with program development, including proposal management, for large scale, multi-million dollar international development programs funded by USAID and other public institutional donors
- Significant knowledge of and direct experience developing proposals for USAID Cooperative Agreements
- Proven experience creating and delivering face-to-face trainings and blended learning resources in cross-cultural contexts
- Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, ability to work under tight deadlines and manage different tasks simultaneously and effectively
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with multicultural teams
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time internationally, sometimes on short notice, for periods of up to two to three weeks

- Master’s degree in international development or related field
