The Technical Advisor II, Social & Economic Development will support the Social, Economic and Education Development Business Unit in a variety of technical, new business development, and thought leadership roles. Likely technical areas of support will include workforce development and entrepreneurship; entrepreneurship, food security and household economic strengthening; youth development; and as needed, support to the civil society and peacebuilding team.
- Provide technical assistance and support to projects and programs across the business unit, including design, management, and STTA.
- Provide new business development support at all phases of the process from pre-capture to proposal submission. This includes serving as Proposal Design Lead, serving on review teams, assisting with design and development on other proposals.
- Contribute to strategic planning and development/launch of new initiatives within the Business Unit.
- Serve as a thought leader by attending events (internal and external) such as workshops, seminars, and conferences. Contribute to new publications such as blogs and thought pieces.
- Contribute to the growth of strategic relationships with key partners, including current and potential donors, implementing partners, and thought leaders in the social and economic development space.
- Serve as a mentor for more junior staff and potentially take on direct supervisory roles as necessary.
- Provide strategic guidance to business unit and FHI 360 initiatives.
- Serve as a key focal point within the business unit for cross-sectoral collaboration with the Health Unit on multi-sectoral proposals, programs, or internal initiatives.
- Typically requires 8-11 years of experience in education, health, behavioral, or social sciences or related field.
- Knowledge and experience in specific technical area.
- Informed of current program developments in division/unit/technical area.
- Years of work experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of technical issues.
- Ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities.
- Experience in specialized technical/medical field of study.
