Summer Global Gender Policy & Aid Effectiveness Intern

The Public Policy & Advocacy (PPA) department is looking for an accomplished student to serve as a Global Gender Policy and Aid Effectiveness intern. This individual will support the governance, fair financing, and accountability work of the Public Policy and Advocacy Department in Washington, D.C. by tracking, analyzing, and contributing to advocacy activities related to the SDGs, global gender policy, aid effectiveness, fair financing, and data.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Track and analyze policy issues related to the 2030 Agenda, global gender policy, financing for development, and foreign aid reform
  • Draft, review, and edit communications materials (invitations, thank you letters, meeting notes, website content, PowerPoint presentations, fact sheets, etc.)
  • Coordinate with partners on event planning and travel logistics
  • Review and edit technical research papers and terms of reference (TORs)
  • Monitor and contribute to social media through blogs, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Attend agency meetings covering Save the Children’s programs and external coalition meetings and events
  • Provide administrative support as needed to the Public Policy & Advocacy department (scanning, mailing, copying, etc.)
  • As needed, provide support on fundraising projects and proposals for the department.
Educational Background: 
Must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate academic program
Skills/Experience: 
  • We are looking for someone who has demonstrated an interest in international development, gender policy, foreign aid reform, advocacy campaigns and/or international organizations
  • Strong writing, copy-editing, and communication skills, including in word processing and spreadsheet programs 
  • Able to assess priorities and manage a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of partners
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in a fast-paced environment; must be a quick learner, able to multi-task and switch gears easily
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
