S/he will lead MNCH opportunities from the time of pre-positioning to submission, and to successful award. S/he will manage the other members of the DGH Program Development team and will prioritize sustaining current partnerships and developing new relationships with peer organizations, innovative partners, and donors.
The Senior Director is a critical position to advance the agency's strategic growth. His/her actions will substantially contribute to Save the Children’s ability to competitively and successfully pursue and acquire funding, thereby increasing the agency's resource base for children.
In collaboration with DGH technical teams, new business staff, and country office senior leadership, the Senior Director is accountable for achieving DGH results in resource mobilization. S/he will interact directly with senior management at the highest levels in the Agency, and will frequently be relied on for providing essential information and inputs critical to program development functions and processes.
Resource Mobilization (75%)
- Work closely with new business and resource development colleagues, develop and support the implementation of a resource mobilization plan for public and private funding streams, including USG (and especially USAID), foundations, private donors, and multilateral donors, to grow our MNCH portfolio in development, transitional, and emergency settings;
- Coordinate with SC country offices and DGH staff to identify and pre-position for upcoming MNCH opportunities, which includes leading capture work and partner selection;
- Serve as the Proposal Director for MNCH opportunities, and in this role ensures SC is responsive to the solicitation, creates a competitive proposal, and maintains collaborative and productive relationships with team members and partners;
- Oversee and collaborate with key stakeholders to make key decisions regarding both the technical and cost components of proposals, leveraging a deep knowledge of the MNCH sector and competitive landscape when making decisions;
- Remain informed and up-to-date on major donor trends, policies, and procurements.
Network and Partnership Development (10%)
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with key donor counterparts (especially USAID), current and potential partners, external partnerships/consortium, and other stakeholders to advance our MNCH work, both within the US and priority regions for DGH;
- Work with SC country offices and others to position SC as a partner of choice in MNCH programming;
- Represent Save the Children to key external audiences and networks
Human Resources Management (10%)
- Supervise some members of the DGH program development team
Knowledge Management for Program Development (5%)
- Collaborate closely with knowledge management and technical leadership to strengthen MNCH program development resources, particularly technical content, global, country and thematic capability statements, and project past performance references.
- Senior management experience, minimum of 10-15 years mobilizing resources and managing large-scale projects and proposals required;
- Demonstrated track record in securing successfully securing grants USAID and foundations.
- Highly developed proposal-writing skills.
- Highly developed critical thinking to craft approaches to secure new funding opportunities.
- In-depth MNCH technical knowledge required;
- Established networks within/familiarity with technical and donor community;
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills to distill complicated concepts into clear, consistent, and direst messages to a diverse audience.
- Demonstrates Save the Children’s core values of accountability, collaboration, integrity, ambition, and creativity
- Familiarity with USAID policies, strategies, and program priorities, preferably at both the global and country level highly preferred;
- Proven ability to think and act strategically, and mobilize support for a vision;
- Field programming experience and perspective preferred, including ability to work productively with a diverse range of country office program personnel, primarily in Africa and Asia;
- Ability to work and think globally and develop diverse relationships with colleagues and counterparts;
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team situation, and in cross-cultural settings.
- Experience supervising or mentoring employees strongly preferred;
- English fluency required;

- Ability to travel up to 25 percent of the time.
