FHI 360 seeks a Project Manager to be based in Washington, DC for an anticipated USAID Bureau for Food Security project, Advancing Women’s Empowerment. The procurement will be focused on gender equality, women’s empowerment, agriculture, livelihoods, and food security. The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the efforts of team members and partners to deliver projects according to plan, and for overseeing quality control throughout the completion of the project life cycle. The successful candidate will have experience managing and overseeing projects from initiation to completion.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Project Director to help ensure excellent overall project implementation.
- Provide guidance and monitoring for project staff, ensuring clarity over project plans and priorities and encouraging effective team work.
- Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
- Develop and deliver project plans, documentation, training, presentations, and budget proposals to management and staff.
- Identify and resolve project issues; implement improvement plans to ensure project stays on schedule and within budget.
- Manage project staff in coordinating and managing the implementation of project activities, delivering quality work and accountability to donor expectations and milestones.
- Build and foster partnerships vital to the success of the project.
- Coach, mentor, and manage project team to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with project and company standards/policies.
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of experience in project management, especially for international development projects. Experience managing USAID Feed the Future or other similar donor-supported food security programming and/or women’s economic empowerment programming is highly desirable.
- Experience working with USAID-funded programs, or other large, complex development projects, especially those in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with project management, process development, and execution.
- Strong knowledge of project management software and other technologies.
- Demonstrated project and personnel management skills.
- Ability to influence, motivate, and collaborate with others.
- Ability to manage up and collaborate well with the Project Director.
- Ability to adapt and resolve problems/issues to bring project to completion.
- Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
- Ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies to select methods and techniques to obtain results.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work to deliver results and focus on impact and results.
- Familiarity with USAID’s Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English required.
