Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) seeks a dynamic and effective Patient Advocacy Program Manager to lead the patient advocacy program (PAP) within the Organizing and Engagement Campaigns Department. 
PAP is a national program that seeks to engage health center visitors and communities in non-partisan advocacy work and volunteer opportunities to strengthen Planned Parenthood’s ties to the communities we serve. This position manages the patient advocacy program by providing strategic support to affiliates across the country including organizing and advocacy trainings, materials, resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and implement training modules on a variety of organizing tactics related to patient advocacy, including voter registration, volunteer recruitment and management, storytelling and story collection, and more.
  • Provide tactical support for affiliate and state staff on patient advocacy programs.
  • Manages program budget and allocate strategically, including interfacing with finance and legal departments.
  • Coordinates, as appropriate with other departments, including legal, communications, government relations, etc on specific programs like Affordable Care Act outreach.
  • Frequent travel to facilitate PAP trainings and strategic planning sessions with Planned Parenthood affiliates.
  • Manages data for the program, working closely with data team to ensure all PAP data is reported accurately.
  • Manages creation of all PAP materials relevant to current issues and campaigns, including materials for canvass operations and sign up cards.
  • Manages voter registration trainings specific to PAP and support for all affiliates.
  • Works with Planned Parenthood storytellers and spokespeople as needed to engage in national and local advocacy campaigns.
REQUIREMENTS / TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
  • 3-5 years of progressive campaign and or advocacy experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in issue-advocacy, women’s health, communities of color and organizing preferred.
  • Customer service skills are required. Knowledge of advocacy, public policy issues and state legislative process are preferred.
  • Ability to create and implement tracking systems is a must.
  • Computer, writing and reporting skills is a must.
PERSONAL QUALITIES /OTHER ATTRIBUTES
  • Experience working at a Planned Parenthood affiliate or national office is a major plus.
  • Knowledge of diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and sensitivity and appreciation to cultural differences is required.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • High energy, thrives in a fast-pace work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and have an organizing background.
