This position will lead on developing and rolling out a partnership strategy to engage with and build the capacity of local organizations in Puerto Rico. The position will provide managerial oversight of sub-grants and material support to organizations across Puerto Rico. The position will manage the partner proposal process and will ensure regular monitoring and reporting.
As a representative of Save the Children the position holder is required to ensure the safety and security of children and families that he/she comes in contact with and represent the agency values of Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity and Integrity. This position is based in Puerto Rico and reports to the Deputy Team Lead, Programs. This position is expected to last a minimum of 6 months, with a possibility of extension to one year.
Partnership Management (70%)
- Develop and implement a partnership strategy as aligned with and contributing to the overall strategic objectives of the emergency and recovery program
- Strategically identify and develop key NGO relationships
- Develop and manage reporting and financial tracking of strategic partnership activities
- Develop and manage partner agreements
- In consultation with the Deputy Team Leader Programs, contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic plan to improve engagement with communities, through key NGOs partnerships.
- Provide advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on the importance and effective methods of NGO engagement
- Liaise with the relevant external stakeholders including donors, to develop high quality proposals
- Maintain regular contact and strategic linkages with key Puerto Rican partner organizations
Capacity Building (25%)
- Develop partner capacity assessment tools and create partner capacity strengthening plans
- Build the capacity of partner organizations by delivering trainings, developing monitoring and feedback systems and regularly meeting and coaching key partner staff
- Ensure technical support
General (5%)
- Deliver results in line with the job description in a way which maintains the reputation of the Save the Children

Required Qualifications
- You have a minimum 3-5 years' experience in International Development
- Strong background in program development and grant management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of different audiences including donors, journalists, beneficiaries, and the ‘general public’.
- Experience delivering communications assets across multiple channels, including print, social and digital.
- An initiative-taking, proactive, inspiring attitude with the ability to manage and prioritize an unpredictable workload and solve problems quickly with needed support.
- Experience of delivering training, presentations and other capacity building activities to varied audiences.
- High-level analytical and strategic thinking skills and strong research skills.
- Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy; ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people.
- Patience, adaptability, flexibility, and ability to improvise and remain responsive and to communicate clearly and effectively under pressure.
- Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children.
- 100% travel/deployment to Puerto Rico.
Preferred Qualifications
- You have 5+ years’ experience in International Development or related field in a relevant subject.
- You have a college/ advanced degree in international development, social work, psychology, or related field
- Experience working in Puerto Rico preferred
- Spanish language capacity preferred
