The Web Editor / Content Strategist is responsible for day-to-day management and coordination of Save the Children Action Network’s web presence, including content pages, action pages as well as email outreach. The Web Editor coordinates production of website content, working closely with the mobilization team and the communications department. The Web Editor works with staff on basic design elements to create visual content. This professional works with groups and individuals throughout the organization to support and advise their efforts online.
- Content Strategy and Production (50%). Work with the communications and mobilization teams to review and deliver Internet content. Coordinate production of website content, independently managing priorities and deadlines. Set up emails, action pages for e-advocacy program and donation pages.
- Project Management (20%). Manage any needed outsourced technology partners for activities related to site design and functionality. Serve as Project Manager for internal site projects, including the development and documentation of new processes and any future upgrades.
- Graphic Design (15%). Serve as graphic designer to create visual content on the website and action pages.
- Innovation (10%). Identify, test and develop new web technology capabilities that answer challenges or present opportunities to the organization. Create monthly and quarterly website reports that reflect trends and opportunities for growth and engagement.
- Training (5%). As needed, train team members on use of content management system (WordPress) and other software and systems to further the mission of the organization.
- 3-5 years of experience in content strategy and management
- Experience using the Internet as an advocacy tool, in user-centered web production, writing for the web, information architecture and visual design of information
- Understanding of and enthusiasm for the Internet's potential as a communications, advocacy and marketing tool, and an ability to communicate this potential to others
- Graphic art and design skills; Photoshop experience a plus
- Experience with Google Analytics or other reporting tools
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong visual, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-starter who pays close attention to detail
- Project management experience
- Detailed knowledge of Word Press, HTML and CSS; familiarity with Salsa Labs and WordPress or other content management system
