The Manager of Special Projects will support the development and execution of strategic and annual plans for Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and Advocacy (USPA) division, as well as the agency’s 501(c) (4) affiliate, Save the Children Action Network (SCAN). The Manager will work with the Senior Director of Strategy and Development and the Senior Management Team (SMT) to develop annual plans and budgets and monitor progress versus goals. S/he will also work with the Senior Director to set agendas for the SMT’s weekly meetings and quarterly retreats and capture notes and action items. In addition, the manager will support high-profile initiatives within USPA and SCAN, including the artist ambassador program, annual gala, and high-priority resource development projects. S/he must have strong written and verbal communications and the ability to balance multiple priorities, work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and with the utmost discretion.
- Support the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic, annual plans for USPA and SCAN. (20%)
- Work with the Senior Director of Strategy and Development and SMT to develop annual plans, goal trees and other documents.
- Compile quarterly and annual reports for the division. Provide assessments of key achievements/wins and flag any areas for concern.
- Develop presentations for board and staff meetings.
- Provide ad-hoc support to departments to ensure high-priority initiatives are on track for timely achievement.
- Support SMT. (25%)
- Work with Senior Director of Strategy and Development to set and distribute agendas and other materials for weekly meetings and quarterly retreats. Prepare meeting minutes (as needed) and capture action items.
- Work with Senior Director to ensure prompt follow up and strong coordination across the division.
- Work with SMT to plan and execute monthly town halls/staff meetings, as well as annual retreats and other team-building activities.
- Support boards of directors for SCAN, Head Start and SCUS-USPA committee, as well as the Coordinating Council for SCAN. (15%)
- Work with Senior Vice President (SVP), Senior Director and officers/key staff for SCAN and Head Start to develop agendas, presentations and support materials for quarterly meetings.
- Prepare meeting minutes for SCAN, USPA committee and Coordinating Council meetings.
- Support the execution of special projects for U.S. Programs and Advocacy. (30%)
- Carry out projects including, but not limited to, preparation for Save the Children’s annual gala, engagement with Artist Ambassadors and formation of high-level fundraising and advocacy events.
- Support the Office of the Senior Vice President. (10%)
- Ensure SVP is prepared for all meetings and events; coordinate and develop briefings and other materials.
- Prepare travel arrangements and expense reports for SVP and Senior Director.
- Assist in drafting and tracking correspondence with donors/prospects, policymakers, press and other constituents/supporters.
- Provide other administrative support as needed.
