Responsible for technical oversight of existing and new programs/projects in the health and development sectors throughout FHI 360’s country offices; for ensuring that technical support and assistance to the programs is evidence based, appropriate, timely high quality and on budget; and for leading a highly-motivated team of experts to assure technical excellence of programs and activities. The incumbent should possess a high level of technical/scientific and management expertise and substantial experience relevant to planning and implementing health and development programs. Additionally, the incumbent is expected to manage a diverse portfolio of projects within a complex, matrixed organizational framework keeping the unit aligned with organizational goals.
- Develops and provides technical/scientific and management leadership, as well as personnel and budget oversight, in support of expanded, quality health and development programs.
- Identifies funding opportunities and participates in the development of proposals and leads proposal development teams.
- Leads and manages several technical experts within the Technical Support Division
- Provides and coordinates technical assistance in HIV/AIDS clinical management and builds capacity of clinical providers in the Africa region.
- Contributes to FHI 360’s efforts to build and sustain capacity in core topic areas, including identifying and nurturing future technical leaders.
- Participates in technical and programmatic reviews, including quality assurance efforts.
- Contributes to writing concept notes/proposals and reports and ensures documentation of best practices across FHI 360 programs.
- Advances thought leadership and ensures FHI 360 programs are represented at conferences and manuscripts are published.
- Represents FHI 360 with implementing partners, international organizations and funders such as USAID, NIH, CDC, DOD as well as private foundations,
- Ensures coordination with other FHI 360 units, departments and groups to foster collaboration, innovative approaches and technical excellence.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
- Demonstrated experience in leading organizational units and/or project teams.
- Proven skills in resource development (USAID and other) including identifying opportunities and leading or participating in the proposal development process.
- Expertise in HIV/ AIDS required including combination prevention approaches and/or ART programs. Expertise in one or more other core topic areas is an asset (Non Communicable Disease, MCH, Malaria and Tuberculosis)
- Substantial experience planning and implementing complex health/HIV/AIDs programs in developing countries.
- Personnel management and grantsmanship experience.
- Ability to travel internationally as needed.
