Sixth & I Seeks Development Associate: Sixth & I is looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent time management and multi-tasking skills to join our development team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an aspiring development professional to obtain broad exposure to many facets of fundraising and development; the Associate plays a critical role in the organization’s fundraising function, assuming ownership of our annual appeals process and young professional giving society in addition to providing support for events and other fundraising initiatives. Areas of Responsibility: 

Appeals & Stewardship

  • Craft concepts, language, and design for segmented stewardship mailings and three major appeals annually in collaboration with the Development and Communications team
  • Communicate with designated vendors to produce, print, and mail all appeal and stewardship materials
  • Track appeal and stewardship mailing progress/results, provide the Development team with weekly updates and recommendations

Donor Engagement

  • Manage Sixth & I’s Young Professional Giving Society, Team 6
  • Send monthly emails with benefits and insider information
  • Plan and execute 4 – 6 events for members each year
  • Plan and execute 2- 3 cultivation efforts each year
  • Build relationships with new, prospective, and current Team 6 members

Events

  • Assist with the planning and execution of stewardship and cultivation events.
  • Arrange for invitations, food, event space, and other logistics of the event.
  • Engage in superior customer service to current and potential donors, supporters and members.

Database

  • Log donor communications and interactions in Raisers Edge database
  • Maintain integrity of information in database and ensure data is entered consistently and accurately.
  • Pull lists for targeted mail, invitations, or other initiatives as requested.

Other tasks in support of the Senior Manager, Development may be assigned, including grant writing opportunities and the dissemination of post event surveys

Educational Background: 
4 Year Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Required: 1-2 years of experience working in a professional Development department or similarly relevant role
  • High level of computer proficiency with advanced skills in Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Experience with databases, preferably experience with Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud or other similar constituent relationship management or donor databases.
  • Strong writing skills with demonstrated excellence in written communications including proficiency in grammar, editing, and proofreading
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings, and overtime, as needed for development events and duties.
  • Understanding of and passion for Sixth & I’s work.
