Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) seeks a driven and impactful Deputy Organizing Director who will be responsible for developing and implementing national strategies and programs that build long term power for Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund. In partnership with key constituencies, affiliates and internal stakeholders, this person will manage large organizing initiatives execute sophisticated trainings and conferences, develop strategic plans to demonstrate our grassroots power and win campaigns to protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health with an emphasis on engaging communities that are reflective of the people served at Planned Parenthood health centers. This position is apart of the Organizing, Elections and Campaigns Department of the 501c(4) and Organizing, Engagement and Campaigns Department of the 501c(3). 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position is a member of the senior leadership of the Organizing Team, and provides day-to-day management of Health Care Advocacy Program Manager and the Organizing and Trainings Manager executes campaign strategy.
  • Organizes large scale trainings and events, and works across the team and the OEC Department to administer strategy and tactics.
  • Partner with Organizing Director, Director of Constituency Programs and Deputy Digital Organizing Director to ensure that the full direction, training, coaching and resources needed to manage successful organizing campaigns and affiliate/national partnerships are in coordination with Campaign Teams and other stakeholders within Planned Parenthood.
  • Develops and implements the national organizing strategies set forth by Planned Parenthood and the OEC Department that advance a proactive sexual and reproductive health agenda and builds long term power with an emphasis on engaging young people, people of color, patient advocates, women, and other communities that are reflective of the people served in Planned Parenthood health centers.
  • Provides advising, training, and coaching to national staff, affiliate staff, partners, and constituents and should have an analysis of building power for young people, people of color, women and LGBTQ communities.
  • Support staff and affiliates in creating strategies that build long term power and are integrated with their immediate electoral and policy goals.
  • Enhance affiliate staff expertise and the leadership development of our supporters through formal and informal training in leadership growth, organizing, supporter mobilization and activation, staff management and messaging.
  • Ensure successful implementation of strategic goals by providing affiliates and constituents with campaign and field experience, technical support, and connections to the appropriate national federation resources.
  • Responsible for working with the Data and Analytics Team to design program evaluation measures and make program enhancements/changes as indicated and managing tracking and reports related to the campaigns.
  • Represent the interests of the Organizing Team in cross departmental meetings and external facing events when needed.
  • Manages rapid response, digital and communications campaigns, and other special projects as assigned. These projects vary between large scale events, field campaigns, advocacy campaigns, and education campaigns. (ie, Power of Pink, #PinkOut Day). 
REQUIREMENTS / TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of organizing experience, ideally with a mix of electoral, community, and direct action organizing.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed, and to travel a minimum of 50% of time as needed.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint Excel, and Publisher and online training tools.
  • Participation in NOI, Midwest Academy, Wellstone, Management Center, Rockwood or comparable training a plus.
  • Experience in creating training designs and outcomes, including program and curriculum evaluation.
