The Communications Officer, Digital will implement digital communications strategies that support and advance the US Program goals, from Early Learning, through K-12 and education after high school. This position will help to create an enabling environment by centering on developing digital advocacy capacity in the field, shaping and deploying our voice through digital channels, and contributing to strategy development.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of communication strategies to help achieve BMGF US Program goals, including Early Learning, K12, and Post-Secondary.
- Provide direction in digital and social media strategy, both internally to the US Program and its leadership, and to partners and grantees.
- Develop a depth of understanding and knowledge of the US Program cross-cutting Strategy (including K-12, Post Secondary, and Early Learning) to inform communication strategy implementation
- Contribute to and support an integrated strategy that involves on-going communications and advocacy strategies targeted to key audiences including policy makers, parents and teachers;
- Provide digital and social media expertise and tactical guidance across US Policy, Advocacy, and Communications work; represent US PAC team to internal and external partners and collaborate effectively;
- Measure progress and engage regularly within USPAC and the foundation to share best practices and lessons learned.
- Contribute to creative written and visual content that meets the style of the audience and adheres to the foundation messaging framework
- This role is responsible for high quality interactions and clear and consistent communications with grantees and partners in the field.
- Must know how to implement elements of a complex digital communications strategy: using complex research, defining business and communications goals, identifying audiences & key voices, message development, establishing and reporting on key goals and metrics.
- Experience in content & platform strategy; familiarity with trends and digital metrics, demonstrated creativity.
- Must be dedicated to the idea that all lives have equal value and that education – from early learning through college completion – is a critical tool for ensuring that.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; a demonstrated ability to create persuasive and clear communications in all forms, traditional and electronic, and with varying audiences.
- Sophisticated understanding of multiple digital platforms and social media strategies, including web development, SEO strategies, mobile, integration of video and other assets, and paid media - plus curiosity and demonstrated ability to seek out and engage with emerging digital & social technologies.
- Ability to effectively alternate between thinking strategically and executing high quality tactics; experience designing and implementing digital campaigns
- Basic understanding of mass communications; project management skills, partnership development.
- Experience dealing with members of the media and utilizing digital communications as part of an integrated communications strategy.
- Ability to work in a matrixed environment and partner with colleagues to achieve objectives.
- Ability to prioritize, focus and achieve results in an exciting and complex environment.
