Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a passionate professional to join our Government Relations & Advocacy (GRA) team as the Advocacy Mobilization Associate Director. The Associate Director - Advocacy Mobilization supports the U.S. government relations team and Solid Ground, Habitat for Humanity's first global advocacy campaign, to develop mobilization strategies to change policies and systems in order to eliminate barriers to adequate, affordable housing. ​Reporting to the Global Advocacy Campaign Direction, this position will work in coordination with policy staff and implement strategies among Habitat for Humanity's network of U.S. affiliates and national organizations – their staff, board members, partner families, volunteers, donors, and community members and will be based in Washington, D.C. at Habitat for Humanity International's GRA team office

Areas of Responsibility: 

POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES: 

  • Strategically lead, build and mobilize a U.S. grassroots network in support of HFHI's federal policy agenda 
  • Developing a strong network of committed individuals in key districts and states who are informed, willing and able to locally influence federal policymakers
  • Lead work with the Habitat affiliated network to build and mobilize grassroots advocates to influence federal policy, leveraging tools including social media, Salsa and Convio platforms and th Advocacy Ambassadors program
  • Support the creation and implementation of local U.S. affiliate mobilization strategies to enhance state and local advocacy initiatives by developing and disseminating tools, guidance and trainings
  • Support the implementation of mobilization activities related to Solid Ground and any future advocacy campaigns
  • Support additional advocacy mobilization and communications efforts of the GRA office as needed
Educational Background: 
Bachelors Degree
Masters degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 to 7 years of Community/Grassroots Organization to influence policy
  • Proven, demonstrated knowledge of policy and systems change within the U.S.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging mobilization trends and tools, particularly in the nonprofit sector
  • Experience utilizing mobilization platforms (ie. Salsa, Luminate Online, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience developing clear, concise content to be used for both targeted and a variety of audiences 
  • Experience with program evaluation and knowledge management
  • Outstanding oral communications skills, with ability to develop and deliver effective presentations
  • Thorough understanding of and commitment to advocacy
  • Experience using a suite of social media tools for an advocacy campaign
  • Experience developing and delivering in-person and virtual training to others
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize 
  • Public policy experience as well as Knowledge of housing policy prefered
  • Experience with Habitat for Humanity or similar affiliated organizations prefered
  • Experience working across cultures and regions globally.
  • HTML coding experience
