Vice President, Healthcare Partnerships & Nutrition

Reporting to the Chief Equity & Programs Officer, the Vice President provides vision, leadership, and sets the priorities for partnerships and programs to improve diet quality and promote health equity for clients served by the Feeding America Network. The Vice President of Healthcare Partnerships and Nutrition will identify member needs and cultivate resources to support and expand healthcare partnerships at the national, regional and local level. The Vice President participates as a member of the Equity and Programs Leadership Team and as a member of Feeding America’s Senior Management Group.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Accountable for the design, development, planning, and execution of evidence-driven programs that address food insecurity as a social determinant of health.  Ensure that programs are customized to meet the needs of people served by the Feeding America Network, and ensure people facing hunger have the support needed to make healthy choices.
  • Partner closely with leaders across the Equity and Programs and Supply Chain teams to optimize programs, using an equity lens, that drive impact for people facing hunger. 
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including internal and external advisory teams, consultants, advisories, and by engaging and supporting Feeding America network members and their executive leadership.
  • Supervise and coach staff to ensure a supportive environment that promotes employee professional and personal growth. Translate organizational goals and outcomes into operational and individual goals and plans for the team. 
  • Collaborating with the Government Relations team, translate knowledge of state and national health policies and trends into insights and opportunities for programmatic solutions to support people facing hunger. 
  • In partnership with the Vice President of Research and the Lead Scientist, synthesize data, scientific evidence, and best practices in literature, consulting experts in the field, and translating findings into implementation opportunities to improve program and team performance.
  • Working with the Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships and the Development Team, collaborate to build transformative revenue and non-revenue generating partnerships with external organizations, nonprofits, health plans, national, state and local agencies, philanthropy, and other relationships that will increase impact for people facing hunger.
  • In partnership with the Marketing and Communication team, educate partners, donors, policymakers, other organizations, and the general public about the nature of domestic hunger, the intersection between hunger and health, demographic profiles of those affected by it, and its possible solutions.
  • Draft materials, articles and papers for presentation at national conferences or inclusion in national and local journals. Represent Feeding America at health-related and policy hearings, forums, and similar events.
  • Accountable for annual budget preparation and ongoing budget management within allocated parameters.
  • Participate as an active member on committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS or relevant experience
Master’s degree in business, public health, public administration or health policy preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • 8 or more years in progressively responsible management-level position with experience supervising and coaching staff.
  • 10 or more years’ experience designing, building and deploying programs to address social determinants of health.
  • Commitment to organizational mission of ending hunger.
  • Experience fostering a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion within and across teams. Builds equity into structures, systems, and processes for our employees and the communities we serve.

Required Leadership Competencies

  • Establishes Vision and Crafts Strategy - Ability to create a clear vision and associated guiding principles for the network’s work in addressing food insecurity as a social determinant of health.
  • Collaborates Internally & Externally - Strong track record of building consensus and working collaboratively in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Leverages Functional Expertise – Ability to leverage knowledge of healthcare, policy, data and research about food insecurity to build transformative partnerships and equitable programmatic offerings.

Required Technical Competencies and Experience

  • Experience developing and managing social determinant of health programs.
  • Experience working within a health plan or health organization.
  • Experience working with Medicaid/Medicare populations.
  • Knowledge of the shifting landscape in healthcare including policy-related implications.
  • 25% to 35% travel required.
