Areas of Responsibility: 

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), a national organization representing nearly 3,000 local health departments nationwide, has an immediate opening for a Associate Web Specialist.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Web Specialist contributes to the advancement of local public health by performing a range of responsibilities related to NACCHO's websites and the management of digital resources. This is an entry level position with a bachelor's degree, or the equivalent. The work of the Associate Specialist supports the work of the department, typically follows standard processes, procedures, and solutions, and includes basic project coordination (organizing, budgeting, and complex scheduling), research, analysis, and writing. He or she typically performs under moderate direction, analysis, research, writing, and can complete projects or components of large-scale projects/programs with minimal supervision.

This position is responsible for providing professional support to NACCHO staff and its stakeholders; this position typically performs moderately difficult analysis, research, writing, and project coordination, usually under the direction of a Senior Specialist or Director. This position duties include new webpage creation, maintaining and updating sites or webpages, soliciting member feedback to guide UI design, ensuring consistency in the format of website pages, providing technical support and training to staff, and other duties as assigned. The Associate Specialist may have frequent contact with outside organizations or internal stakeholders that may involve project coordination, information sharing, or resolution of problems. The position may require travel several times during the year for projects, or to attend meetings as required.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES

Website Management

  • Works collaboratively on upgrades and improvements to NACCHO websites as needed;
  • Serves as primary for CIFOR, Event Microsites and WordPress Microsites;
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for our content management systems (CMS), specifically Craft CMS, and HigherLogic Community CMS;
  • Works to ensure that new and/or existing online content is consistent with NACCHO's Web style guidelines and review pages continually to ensure quality/consistency;
  • Advocates for the users of NACCHO.org and their ability to find and share industry-related information;
  • Communicates effectively with consultants, IT staff, and other stakeholders on the development of NACCHO websites;
  • Serves as an IT liaison for our CMS platforms;
  • Uses Google Analytics and other tracking software to make sense of user behavior to influence web design;
  • Serves as primary for Google Analytics/Tag Manager including setup, deployment, user management, and producing daily, weekly and monthly reports;
  • Serves as primary for web domain management for NACCHO sites, including CNAME, record creation, and domain purchase/renewal management;
  • Serves as primary for Linux server maintenance, including backup management, software updates, user management, security, performance monitoring and deployments;
  • Follows industry trends and best practices around website design and project management;
  • Works across the organization to ensure that all needs are being met for webpages and resources;
  • Finds creative solutions to support public health using digital products at our disposal / within budget;

Staff Support & Training

  • Provides training and listening sessions to NACCHO staff on how to update and access NACCHO websites, HigherLogic CMS and Marketing Automation, Google Analytics/Tag Manager. Serves as backup for Craft CMS trainings/resources and user management;
  • Serves as primary for HigherLogic CMS and Marketing Automation, and Google Analytics/Tag Manager trainings/resources and user management;
  • Assists with writing policies, workflows, and training documentation to ensure that all staff are aware of processes;
  • Works collaboratively with others to support technical assistance activities and new digital products;
  • Works collaboratively with staff to design and implement email blast templates in HigherLogic Marketing automation platform;
  • Uses help desk software to track support tickets to internal staff requests;

Conferences & Member Promotion

  • Assists with the promotion of NACCHO IT products and projects internally and for members at conferences;

Skills/Experience: 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in relevant professional field with a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience and/or advanced technical training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, including a relevant certification. An advanced degree may be substituted for work experience. On occasion, extensive practical experience may be substituted for formal education, particularly if the technical specialty is unusually complex or when long experience has a greater value to the organization than conceptual understanding. Master's degree in a relevant field preferred.

  • High level of proficiency in content management systems, Craft CMS and WordPress preferred.
  • High level of proficiency in HTML, CSS, Google Analytics, Web Security, SQL database and PHP.
  • High level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Knowledge of web publishing, Active Directory, netFORUM Enterprise AMS, and HigherLogic Marketing Automation and Community platforms.
  • Experience configuring and executing backup & recovery for storage and servers.
  • Ability to manage sub-domains and file/directory structures and permissions.
  • Experience in responsive web design, web architecture, wire framing, UX (user experience) and UI (user interface) required.
  • Understanding of marketing fundamentals, e-commerce, content creation and integration, campaign development and programmatic promotion.
  • Preferred: Experience working in an association environment.

Salary Range:

$63,750 - $66,000
