The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a DIRECTOR – GO RED FOR WOMENFounders Affiliate office in Waltham, MA . Under the direction of the Executive Director Metro Boston, the Director is responsible for implementing the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign in the Boston market.
- Identification, cultivation and recruitment of C-suite and Upper Level Management volunteer leaders to mobilize top area employers and individuals in sponsorship and participation through the Go Red for Women Corporate Event(s). Develops and implements year-round pipelines and cultivation plans for corporate accounts and volunteer leadership based on nationally established best practices.
- Responsible for overall Go Red for Women cause campaign in Boston including cause sponsor solicitation, activation, and cultivation, Circle of Red, Wear Red Day, Open your Heart and the Passion Committee.
- Identify, steward and solicit companies as sponsors for the local Go Red for Women Corporate Event(s). Build relationships with sponsors to retain and upgrade their financial involvement.
- Recruit, establish, maintain and steward relationships with key corporate and community leaders who can support and solicit fundraising for the AHA and involve them at the appropriate time. Manage such volunteers for not only short-term results but also upgraded long-term relationships.
- Build a network of meaningful volunteer partnerships to advance the mission throughout the year. Responsible for developing a plan to motivate, recognize, and steward volunteers. Share meaningful opportunities for volunteers so they can utilize their passions appropriately to further our mission.
- Establish new accounts and cultivate new customers to reach highest level of revenue generation.
- Recruit and Manage Circle of Red donors and its subcommittees, ensuring attainment of COR financial goal.
- Manage and mobilize high level corporate business leaders, including participation from the Medical and Pharmaceutical industries, and influential community stakeholders to serve on the Go Red for Women Executive Leadership Committee.
- Develop timeline and budget for the Go Red For Women Corporate Event(s) in concert with goals and objectives.
- Successfully utilize National & Affiliate materials, products, databases and tools including Siebel, and E-1. Usage includes timely and accurate entry of data, running and reviewing reports, and monitoring and updating data as needed.
- Adhere to AHA best practices, timelines and volunteer engagement practices to ensure that revenue targets are reached.
- In conjunction with the VP, implement an annual business plan to maximize revenue, volunteer involvement and build the Go Red for Women brand identity in the assigned community.

- Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment and management, proven track record in exceeding sales/fundraising goals.
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability to successfully identify, cultivate, recruit, and maintain relationships with top level volunteers/customers from identified companies.
- Organization, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are a must.
- Candidates must be results driven with a strong ability to multi task, and must also be willing and able to travel within the assigned territory up to 85% especially during busy event season.
- Proven ability to understand and navigate corporate cultures to achieve goals.
- Ability to plan and conduct meetings.
- Ability and willingness to travel as position demands.
- Ability to work outside standard hours as needed, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication at all organizational levels.
- Ability to use Microsoft products, computer software, run reports and maintain accurate data.
- Satisfactory background and reference checks upon offer of employment.
EDUCATION:
- College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have at least 3 years of experience in fundraising, outside sales and/or senior level volunteer management. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
