The YMCA of Central Texas is seeking a Director of Fund Development and Marketing for mission advancement and communication.

Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Serves as a member of the President/CEO's Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic leadership in fund development, marketing and communication strategies, to advance the YMCAs mission through annual giving, government, and foundation grants, endowment bequests and gifts, and capital campaigns. Assists the CEO in developing an actively engaged volunteer board of Directors in our fundraising efforts, and in positioning the YMCA as a "charity of choice" for the investment of donation within our local community.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and coordinates association capital development, annual campaign, and endowment programs
  • Serves as primary staff to the Fund Development Committee of the Board of Directors, and is supportive of other assigned committees as directed.Develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of Fund Development
  • Develops processes and is actively involved in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects.Maintains database resources file on top community leaders
  • Prepares and submits proposals for grants from government sources and private foundations
  • Develops systems and manages resources needed to carry out the fundraising plans and exceeds goals as set in collaboration with the CEO/Board
  • Develops appropriate fundraising policies and procedures for the association
  • Tracks all gifts and pledges by source and purpose provides reports as needed
  • Proactively seeks funders to support Y programs and mission
  • Provides training in fundraising.Educates, motivates and provides feedback to individuals related to best practices in the fundraising process
  • Develops communication plans to ensure that members, participants, and the community understand the case for support.Plans and directs the marketing and communication plan; Plans and oversees the association annual meeting, annual report, newsletters, brochures, and other related reports
  • Develops annual operating goals, objectives and plans for the marketing and communications area.Monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met
  • Develops, produces and distributes information necessary to promote programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans
  • Establishes contacts with media representatives and writes and submits press releases when appropriate.Maintains updated files of YMCA’s media relations (both press and electronic)
  • Develops, monitors and administers assigned annual budgets and maintains a positive fiscal position
  • Develops effective working relationships with service groups, community organization and companies.Makes a presentation about the YMCA.
  • Hires, trains evaluate and supervise staff and volunteers.Provides development and leadership.
  • Provides and maintains related statistics and reports
  • Plans and coordinates special events as directed.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent; Master’s degree optional
Skills/Experience: 
  • Four or more years of professional experience with a background in Fund Development preferred
  • Ability to relate to the top community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles
  • Ability to create interpretive materials to enable potential donors to understand the YMCA and how they contribute to the achievement of its mission
  • Knowledge of the media and its use in gaining exposure for YMCA events and programs to maintain increased membership
  • Foundation and government grant writing expertise
  • CFRE or equivalent preferred; YMCA Organizational Leadership certification preferred
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software
  • Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries
  • Experience developing marketing and communications & campaigns. Knowledge of email marketing solutions.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver.Experience with Content Management Systems, Search Engine Optimization, and Web analytics tools.
  • Experience with project management to manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
