General Summary
Alzheimer's Association, California Central Chapter is hiring for an Educator and Care Specialist to provide supportive services to seniors residing in Ventura County. This is a F/T (37.5 hours), position with benefits. This position is responsible for staffing our Ventura County office and providing education, information, referral and support services to people with dementia, caregivers, and family members of people with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders and ensuring the community is informed and educated about Alzheimer's disease and the services provided by the Association.
Essential Job Functions

Learn, schedule and deliver Family Caregiver Education programs in the community
- Oversee support group services in the community
- Responsible for providing individual and family care consultations / coaching sessions in person, by telephone, and via e-mail.
- Develop new and maintain existing relationships with other service organizations with an intention to provide services within the community setting, with a focus on those serving low income and minority populations
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, human services or a related field desirable.
- Bilingual preferred • Experience working with people with dementia and their caregivers highly desirable.
- Outgoing and comfortable meeting new people
- Experience and comfort with public speaking
- Ability to work collaboratively in a busy office environment
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, dementia and community resources, desirable.
- Experience in assessment and counseling families, desirable.
- Experience in use of Microsoft applications and office information systems.
- Some Travel required; Valid California Drivers license and use of personal vehicle.
