The International Social Services Manager will ensure AGCI’s global intervention programs follow best practices in child protection and in caregiving principles with a particular focus on expanding AGCI’s international caregiver training program. This individual will assist AGCI’s Director of Education in developing TBRI based, culturally competent training curriculum and will travel domestically and internationally in order to train a variety of workers in international child welfare institutions, communities and government offices. This position will also develop, and maintain, a positive relationship with AGCI global staff and international partners in order to elevate the standard of care, and quality of services, available to vulnerable children around the world.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Partners with AGCI international staff, and partners, to develop unique and culturally competent caregiver training curriculum for various overseas communities, institutions and/or government entities.

Develops a comprehensive strategic plan for implementing AGCI’s international caregiver training program on a local and international level within AGCI’s current, and future, countries of service.

Provides direct service and support as needed for children, families, caregivers and community leaders who participate in AGCI’s global intervention programs. This may include handling child advocacy issues and conducting needs assessments for institutions, children, families or caregivers.

Establishes and maintains relationships with domestic and international staff, partners, organizations, communities, institutions and government offices in order to expand AGCI’s international caregiver training program around the world.

Develops program operating strategies, plans, reports or procedures in order to meet the goals and objectives of AGCI’s global intervention programs and maintain AGCI’s high standards of excellence.

Develops and manages an operational budget for AGCI’s international caregiver training program.

Prepares and maintains records and reports, such as budgets, training manuals and operational records for AGCI’s international caregiver training program.

Researches and analyzes needs of specific populations of children, caregivers, families and communities in order to determine program directions and goals.

Works with the AGCI advancement team to develop marketing materials, fundraising activities and special events aimed at supporting AGCI’s global intervention programs.

Speaks to internal and external audiences, including major donors and AGCI sponsors, in order to explain and promote AGCI’s global intervention programs, purposes and policies.

Participates in fundraising and donor-cultivation strategies, including grant writing, in order to provide self-sustaining, revenue-generating opportunities for the organization; includes written, phone, email and/or in-person solicitation and use of persuasive skills to recruit new AGCI donors, sponsors, advocates and foundations.

Meets weekly by phone or in person with the Vice President of International Programs to discuss tasks, activities, needs and progress towards programming goals.

Utilizes fundraising, adoption and sponsorship software as needed; logs all telephone calls, enters new information, performs queries and creates reports and summaries, as needed.

May travel 50% or more internationally or domestically as directed by the Vice President of International Programs.

Displays excellent communication skills including writing, presentation, and listening abilities; displays excellent ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.

Respectfully takes direction from the Vice President of International Programs.

Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance; has the ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.

Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings as required.

Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation and remains open to all levels of work and support for the organization.

Educational Background: 
Master's in Social Work or Related Social Service Field
Skills/Experience: 

Master's degree in Social Work or Related Social Service field; plus three or more years related experience in child welfare or international humanitarian work; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must also be a trained TBRI practitioner or be willing to become a trained TBRI practitioner within 120 days of securing employment with AGCI.
