Senior Specialist, Affiliate Communications

As Habitat for Humanity International implements an affiliate-oriented approach, one of the most critical elements is communications. In recent years, affiliates have reported being overwhelmed by communications from HFHI. Going forward, HFHI will streamline communication to affiliates, improving how affiliates receive information. This position will play a critical role in helping to build out a new “Affiliate Experience” by helping to determine the various types and channels of communication for affiliates.

This position will support affiliate communications across all relevant platforms and help pilot and scale up new methods of communications to affiliates. S/he will also collaborate with the MyHabitat team to best utilize that platform to amplify or underscore key messages and to engage affiliates.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist in affiliate communications across relevant platforms (e.g., MyHabitat, emails, training events, etc.)
  • Help pilot new methods of communication to affiliates. Gather and analyze qualitative and quantitative data around which methods are most effective and appreciated
  • Seek ways to support and better leverage MyHabitat and Yammer as a communication vehicle for the U.S. network.
  • Provide communication support to programs and services supporting U.S. affiliates
  • Assist in the development of U.S. Office News, a monthly electronic newsletter
  • Track and advise U.S. Office staff on all publications
  • Work closely with IT to coordinate mass email message distribution to the Habitat network
  • Represent the communications division on various committees and special projects and coordinate with appropriate communications team member(s)
  • Adhere to the brand user guide
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years related work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and a general comfort level working with technology systems (SharePoint, and online meeting software, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of communications tools
  • Understands different types of communications to large groups and how to effectively communicate
  • Proficiency in communications technologies and knowledgeable about innovative ways of communicating with large and diverse groups
  • Adept at building relationships and trust with both affiliates and HFHI staff members
  • Track record of strong collaboration and communication across teams and departments
  • Strong logic/reasoning/analytical abilities
