Senior Manager QSI Programs & Operations, Stroke & AFIB

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Manager Quality Systems Improvement (QSI) Programs and Operations based out of our National Center office. This position can be remote but must be located near a major airport. This individual will be responsible for acting as a cardiovascular/stroke clinical expert with a focus on one or more of the Quality Systems Improvement (QSI) or Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) program(s)/module(s). Responsible for owning and consulting on strategy for the assigned QSI/GWTG program(s) area. Responsible for facilitating Volunteer and Clinical Staff Committees providing expertise and scientific support for the assigned program. Responsible for leading and managing field and Affiliate QSI professionals to expand and increase participation in the assigned module(s) and QSI programs in general. Other responsibilities will include:

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, communicate, and execute strategic plan for assigned QSI/GWTG suite of programs. Represent the program both internally and externally including committees, educational events, conferences, scientific meetings, and Affiliate events
  • Ensure that field staff have tools and resources to meet goals. Provide training and coaching on assigned module including best practices and successful implementation strategies. Meet with or provide training through webinars or classroom. Lead webinars and facilitate science and marketing processes in compliance with the AHA’s Science policy. Ensure guidelines and policies are being followed
  • Lead and facilitate volunteer committees and act as liaison to the Measures and Informatics team ensuring a process for implementation is seamless. Assist with validation of quality measures in the Patient Management Tool with internal and external user groups. Ensure data quality and accuracy prior to customer roll-out
  • Collaborate and create strategy with the Hospital Accreditation team to help evaluate and implement growth opportunities to increase participation and revenue from the assigned QSI/GWTG program. Identify obstacles and barriers to implementing and growing the program
  • Act as liaison or lead for any organization that contracts with the AHA/ASA for assigned QSI/GWTG module engagement. Develop and deliver account plans and management strategies with team and field staff
  • Act as lead for two (2) or more Affiliates as a QSI generalist and attend team calls and strategic meetings. Provide expertise for the assigned module for all 7 affiliates and consult with the QSI Affiliate Team on strategies for growth and retention
  • Provide information and data to support new and existing grants to increase participation and revenue growth implement specifically funded strategies and tactics and the incorporation of newly funded
  • Stay abreast of clinical developments through research and journal review
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Experience in an acute care hospital in patient care, clinical quality or quality improvement
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cardiac disease, resuscitation, atrial fibrillation, stroke or related areas
  • Ability to work through and with volunteers
  • Program Management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10% local and overnight stay

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Science or related area
