Policy Research Manager - Voices for Healthy Kids

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Policy Research Manager for our Voices for Healthy Kids team at our National Center office in Dallas, TX (Remote/Home Based is acceptable) .

Our POLICY RESEARCH MANAGER is key to making a healthier generation a reality. This individual will be responsible for providing strategic consultation and other support for policy and message research as well as supporting resources and tools related to state and city-based advocacy policy change campaigns making the places kids live, learn and play healthier. This position can be remote. Must live near a major airport.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Researching and developing public policy solutions.
  • Supporting national polling and message research projects.
  • Developing resources and tools to support Voices for Healthy Kids and grantees.
  • Providing strategic counsel and technical assistance on policy development, message research, and public opinion polling to Voices for Healthy Kids and its grantees and related field campaigns.
  • Managing related partnerships including other Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grantees and projects.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree in political science, public policy, public health or related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public policy research and development, with a demonstrated succession of increasing professional responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of governmental operations, both at the state and local level.
  • Successful experience with building or demonstrated understanding of health equity and role it plays in public policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time constraint.
  • Must be able to travel overnight approx. 10% of the time.

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Experience with public health issues is desirable.
  • Experience working with or commissioning polling and/or message research.
