Manager – Support Model Special Projects

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a Manager - Support Model Special Projects. As HFHI embarks on a transition period – to better align supports with affiliate needs – a “change team” will be coordinating and managing the change process. This team will be critical to HFHI effectively executing this transition. Giving declining trust in HFHI (from both affiliates and HFHI staff), the change process needs to be well-organized and transparent in order to preserve and further build trust with the affiliate network and HFHI staff. The change team will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the change process, including (but not limited to) communications, sponsorship, hiring of new positions, supporting the transition of programs (that will be adjusted or reinvented) and ensuring that stakeholders understand the changes ahead and the rationale for those changes.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Implementation of the US Support Model will be multi-phased and iterative. Over the next several fiscal years, a “change team” will coordinate and manage the change process. The Special Projects Manager will work with the Change Team Lead and Collaborative Operating Model team to take on rotating initiatives that support implementation. This position will be critical to the success of HFHI making this transition to realize the intent of the future state of the U.S. Support Model. Functions much like a chief of staff role: takes on rotating initiatives / projects that support overall needs of the change team.

  • Develop dashboards / monitoring tools to make sure implementation stays on track
  • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data, create reports and PowerPoint presentations of data to support the work of the change team.
  • Facilitate workshops, surveys and conduct 1:1 engagement with staff of all levels who are taking on new responsibilities associated with the support model.
  • Provide support for specific FY19 and FY20 priority areas, e.g.
  • For measurement/research function, doing research on what best practices exist across the network in measurement (e.g. shared systems like in MI, CA)
  • For “expertise center” concept development, leading benchmarking on best practices in communities of practice
  • Support for specific areas that made need additional help implementing aspects of the strategy
  • Working with change team lead on updates for HFHI senior leadership and the COM affiliate executive task force
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Travel: 15%
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and a general comfort level working with technology systems (SharePoint, webpage design and online meeting software, etc.)
  • Track record of strong collaboration and communication across teams and departments; high emotional intelligence
  • Strong project leadership skills (particularly around bring the right people together to solve a problem
  • Excellent facilitator; able to work well with senior-most leaders with minimal oversight
  • Excellent logic/reasoning/analytical abilities
  • Excels in ambiguity; rapid learner
  • Able to work independently and command respect with people across departments and levels
