Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a Lead Organizational Development Consultant for Habitat Hammers Back. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing the support services essential to the functioning and effective implementation of HFHI's in-state disaster response programmatic activities in partnership with affected affiliates and State Support Organizations.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and lead the organizational development strategy for HHB and provide leadership for affected affiliates to have a successful recovery program
  • Contribute to the strategy development of the overall HHB program and individual storm responses (Harvey, Irma & Maria)
  • Contribute to the set-up and execution of the case management system for each affected affiliate in the designated geographical data, in collaboration with the HFHI Disaster Management Expert
  • Lead the development of tools, templates and standardization of services offered to the affected affiliates - including board development, budget creation, risk management, staffing plans, etc.
  • Serve as a relationship lead to specified affected affiliates/SSO's of HHB and to the Affiliate Support Center on behalf of HHB
  • Conduct relevant trainings and consulting necessary to support the affected affiliates to operate with excellence
  • Represent HHB when needed in external meetings and with stakeholders
  • Monitor and report out to HFHI on the progress of each affiliate against set plans
  • Manage reporting needs from/to the affiliates/SSO to/from HFHI
  • Lead the creation of metrics around organizational development and support the overall creation and execution of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) for HHB
  • Coordinate support between affiliates and HFHI in reaching objectives, including volunteerism and communications
  • Proactively elevate the needs of affiliates and SSO's in the recovery programming to achieve greater impact
  • Provide leadership and guidance to affiliate staff as needed
  • Support the State Support Organization in coordination with HFHI
  • Maintain solid understanding of field activities and manage deployment of needed experts to affiliates
  • Ensure program activities are operating effectively within organizational policy and acceptable industry standards
  • Assist the process of capturing lessons learned and promising practices
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a team to accomplish a mission.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with little supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment with multi-national staff.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Travel: 50-60%

Preferred:

  • At least 2 years experience working in a disaster response setting strongly preferred.
  • Experience in non-profit program management strongly preferred.
