Internship Programmes Supervisor

This position is responsible for coordinating the U.S. based Internship Programmes (Spring, Summer & Fall) through sourcing, recruiting, and hiring current college students and/or recent graduates. Also responsible for U.S. based new hire on-boarding and orientation, as well as monitoring and updating Welcome to World Vision (WTWV), the partnerships new hire orientation materials.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Program Management:

  • Supervise interns with department managers; plans and maintains productivity, disciplinary and corrective action, setting and maintaining work standards.
  • Supervise U.S. Internship Programmes Intern and manage their day to day operations.
  • Create and implement weekly professional development programming (cohort calls, department orientations, trainings, etc.)
  • Monitor intern performance through ongoing feedback with host department and intern.
  • Ensure quality learning environment for each U.S. based intern.
  • Provide career counseling on an ongoing basis.
  • Conduct evaluations as needed and exit interviews for each intern.
  • Maybe required to support technical interns hired outside of the U.S. internship programme.

Sourcing/Recruiting/Onboarding:

  • Develop and maintain multiple channels and networks to build a deep, diverse, and reliable sourcing pool. Proactively identify, develop, and execute effective sourcing strategies to strengthen intern talent pipeline.
  • Serve as internal advocate for current or former interns through the recruitment processes to encourage and support hiring into open positions..
  • Manage full cycle recruitment for U.S. Internship Programmes including a) creating, advertising, and collecting internal requisitions for interns, b) creating online web copy for Careers & Employment page, c) review applications, d) conduct screening interviews, e) recommend shortlist of candidates to each host department, f) collect references and pre-hire documents for each intern, and g) onboard interns.

External Engagement:

  • Develop strategic relationships, on behalf of WVI, for U.S. based Internship Programmes through, but not limited to, marketing opportunities, candidate referrals, growing the network of Colleges and Universities and creating new departments for interns..
  • Represent WVI to Colleges and Universities in development of MOU’s, in consultation with Legal Department, to secure students for Internship Programmes.

Communications:

  • Support U.S. Internship Programme specific social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn & Twitter).

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Conduct ongoing assessment of U.S. Internship Programmes (i.e. interns, College and University career center, etc.)
  • Develop annual report highlighting activity and achievements of the U.S. Internship Programmes.
  • Make ongoing strategic data-driven recommendations to continuously improve the program.

New Hire Orientation and Welcome to World Vision (WTWV):

  • Coordination and delivery of new hire orientation of all Global Centre U.S. based employees.
  • Collection of new hire paperwork for all Global Centre U.S. based employees.
  • Monitor the use of WTWV and working in collaboration with P&C Communications and e-Campus on updates and ease of access.
  • Provide annual reporting on WTWV engagement and useage.

Administrative Recruitment:

  • Full cycle recruitment for administrative level positions as needed.
Educational Background: 
Bachelors degree; or 4-5 years work experience.
Skills/Experience: 

Required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience.
  • Experience in managing network of relationships and stakeholders.
  • Experience in recruitment, internship and/or orientation programme coordination.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communications skills.

Preferred:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and represent World Vision.
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively with people in different levels of leadership.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Experience working in HR/organizational development highly desired.
  • Experience working with college/graduate students and recent graduates highly desired.
  • Experience working in the nonprofit/NGO sector desired.
  • Experience with proven success in social media management preferred.

Work Environment:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time.
