350.org is looking for talented and strategic Grants Coordinator to partner with climate activist groups on the implementation of mini grants programs.  At least two years experience in administrative roles is required.

The Grants Coordinator will be responsible for running 350.org’s mini grants program for partners and climate activist groups. They will be literate on climate and movement issues, will be able to think strategically about grant requests, and offer guidance when necessary. The position also requires good administration, project and time management skills.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Grants Strategy and Guidance:

  • Helping 350 staff as well as regional partners and local groups develop grant requests to fit with program priorities.
  • Offering guidance on framing for specific campaigns, actions, or budgeting when requested.
  • Supporting strategic implementation, capacity building and networking for grantees.

Grants Administration:

  • Reviewing and summarizing funding proposals along with other team members and relevant staff within 350.org.
  • Collecting required documentation and processing grant requests.
  • Tracking grant requests, following up with grantees.
  • Preparing internal communications / updates about the program, stages, deadlines, learnings and results for staff.

Grants Communication:

  • Ensuring quality photo and video documentation of the projects
  • Doing social media amplification for selected projects. 

Public Engagement: 

  • Understand 350.org’s history campaigns, and theory of social change, and keep current with basic climate science and policy. From time to time, use this knowledge to represent 350.org's perspective in varied public venues based on geographic location and areas of expertise.
  • From time to time, contribute work towards 350.org's overall mission that is outside of standard responsibilities and instead relies solely on geographic location or work capacity.  
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Ability to frame local issues through a global climate movement lens and help grantees develop relevant proposals.
  • Proficiency with cloud based office applications, especially spreadsheets. Administrative and project management skills to effectively keep track of applications
  • Ability to set professional boundaries. Resilient and able to manage self and keep composure in times of stress. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Effectively craft and deliver concise and informative communications. Basic social media management skills.
  • Ability to build, nurture, promote and influence local, regional and international networks.
  • Organized, detail oriented and accurate. 
  • Able to create work plans and anticipate deadlines. 
  • Be comfortable juggling multiple priorities with competing deadlines. 
  • Must believe and embrace 350.org’s vision, mission, and progressive values.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in administrative roles.
  • Proficiency in Google Drive

Preferred but not required 

  • Experience with grant making
  • Previous experience in not-for-profit
  • Climate movement experience
  • Experience as a local group leader
  • Experience as a grant recipient
  • Proficiency in Slack and Zoom.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
