Disaster Preparedness Instructor Consultant

Objective: Provide content review and facilitate trainings for Habitat Ready course materials towards the development and implementation of disaster preparedness training for US affiliates.

Assignment location: Remote; desk review, virtual coordination with HFHI DR3, virtual and in-person trainings.

Methodology: Desk review, virtual training of trainers, virtual coordination and training delivery (potential in-person training delivery), in collaboration with HFHI DR3.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Review existing course material: Instructor’s guides, PowerPoint decks, exercises, and resources
  • Business Continuity Planning
  • Foundations of Habitat and Disaster Risk Reduction and Response
  • Designing and Managing a Disaster Response Program
  • Participate in training of trainers
  • Conduct outreach to priority high risk affiliates, in coordination with HFHI DR3
  • Facilitate webinar and/or in-person trainings (#, location, and dates TBD)
  • Facilitate feedback from participants based on MEAL plan, follow up on questions or challenges affiliates may experience in developing their plans after training
  • Collect and analyze feedback from participants
  • Provide feedback on course content and methods with a focus on the appropriateness and feasibility of objectives for a US affiliate audience
Educational Background: 
Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge and experience in disaster preparedness
  • Strong training and facilitation skills required
  • Strong leadership, planning, organizational and diplomatic skills required
  • Ability to maintain cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to travel and deliver in-person trainings in diverse settings
  • Strong writing and communication skills required
