Director - Resource Development Expertise Center

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a Director - Resource Development Expertise Center. As affiliates and HFHI develop new ways to collaborate on fundraising, supporting capacity building and the exchange of promising practices among affiliates is a key component to achieving overall fundraising success for the ministry.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The Director – Resource Development Expertise Center will create and implement this “expertise center” to aggregate best practices in resource development and provide training and resources to affiliates while fostering a collaborative exchange of fundraising knowledge among affiliates
  • Define the framework for the resource development expertise center
  • Manage staff supporting the resource development expertise center
  • Establish channels for affiliate input into the functions and activities of the resource development expertise center
  • Coordinate and deliver training to enhance affiliate capacity for resource development
  • Create resources and templates for affiliate resource development
  • Create and facilitate peer-learning opportunities, regarding resource development, for affiliates
  • Engage with Collaborative Operating Model Executive Task Force and staff to realize the intent of the resource development expertise center
  • Ensure proper monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning is documented and incorporated into program strategy
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10+ years related work experience
  • Experience with Habitat for Humanity and/or other federated nonprofit organizations
  • CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and a general comfort level working with technology systems (SharePoint, webpage design and online meeting software, etc.)
  • Project management experience
  • Track record of strong collaboration and communication across teams and departments
  • Proven expertise and success in fundraising with a variety of donor types (individual, faith-based, corporate, foundation), through an array of strategies (direct mail, events, individual asks, planned giving).
  • Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of the Habitat for Humanity mission and possess outstanding people skills.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication
  • Experience managing large, complex projects serving a range of large clients and/or implementing major projects for large non-profit organizations is desired.
  • Excels in ambiguity; rapid learner
  • Excellent facilitator
  • Able to work well with senior-most leaders with minimal oversight
  • Able to work independently and command respect with people across departments and levels
  • Motivated self-starter and ability to work independently, meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks and be resourceful
  • Well-developed communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate across the organization
