The Director of MCH/HBWW Impact is responsible for advancing the Foundation’s mission by ensuring all state and community program components are implemented and meet quality expectations in strategic mission investment planning and Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait (HBWW)
Community Programs.
Principal roles and responsibilities include program strategy development and execution and reporting on outcomes and impact. The position reports to the VP of MCH Innovation and supports all states with a focus on a sub-set of HBWW community program implementation states.
This is a telecommuter position.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Oversee the development and success of Strategic Mission Investment (SMI) plans that include setting of a state specific goal, identification of priority areas and activities to achieve overall goal and sound investment of all state resources, including, but not limited to community grants and state managed programs. Ensure policies and processes are established to support the development of SMI plans and provide input into the development of a wider vision for SMI. Provide guidance and technical assistance to states and regional program staff to develop and input SMI plans into the Electronic Program Information Center (EPIC), and track and report progress and impact.
- Build relationships and provide guidance and support for state work in quality improvement (QI), including providing oversight and technical assistance to states leading, initiating or participating in state Perinatal Quality Collaboratives. Provide guidance and support to state’s involved in national QI projects and oversee the implementation of QI recognition programs such as the Early Elective Delivery Reduction Banner program.
- Assure that states implementing the Healthy Babies Are the Worth the Wait Community Program model of collaboration and investment fully integrate their activities under the state SMI plan. Plan, support and provide direction to additional states to utilize HBWW Community Program framework to focus their resources within their SMI framework. Provide training, orientation, and technical assistance to states on alignment of the HBWW Community Program model with their SMI plan, implementation of the HBWW framework, management of the corresponding budget, and quality assurance of the initiative in each state.
- Develop and lead the people and process to identify and assess regionally or locally evaluated evidence-based and promising programs and interventions in conjunction with PDC; lead the development of policies and state guidance to support or implement evidence-based programs as a critical component of SMI and an appropriate use of state resources. Promote strategic mission investment and investment in evidence based and promising practices such as, group prenatal care, Coming of the Blessing, Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait and Becoming a Mom/Comenzando bien, at national conferences and in professional journals.
- Working with state MCH leadership, nurture external relationship and ensure that contract deliverables are met and reports are prepared in a timely and appropriate manner to support partnerships with corporate, government agency and non-profit partners. Manage relationship and reports to Johnson & Johnson, Anthem Foundation and other external funders.
Educational Background:
Master’s Degree in Public Health, program development, or related field, or equivalent professional experience; knowledge of maternal and child health or public health; knowledge of structure and workings of state and federal maternal and child health
Skills/Experience:
- Previous Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of directly related work experience required, including management experience, program development and evaluation; experience working across multiple states a plus.
- Physical Demands: Involves traveling by car, train or plane to meetings, trainings and supervisory work; involves sustained periods of computer work; involves significant phone and web-based discussion; may involve lifting and carrying boxes;
- Equipment Used: Computer, printer, telephone, copier and fax machine; familiarity working in common software programs and database systems.
