The Director, Local-to-Global Advocacy & Impact, provides overall leadership for ensuring that WVI’s advocacy and external engagement is joined-up from the local, national and regional levels through to the global level. She/he reports to the Partnership Leader for Advocacy and External Engagement (A&EE). In cooperation with the Regional Advocacy Directors and the rest of the GC A&EE team, the Director ensures that the WV-wide advocacy change agenda is focused on, and contributing to, the SDGs as articulated in WV’s Global Impact Framework and Our Promise. She/he has the ultimate responsibility of maintaining the communication between GC A&EE and the Field on all aspects related to WVI advocacy priorities and agenda. Additionally, the Director works with the Regional Offices toward the development, use, and the representation of WVI’s Local Level Advocacy results and citizens generated data on the global agenda. As part of the A&EE Leadership Team the Director contributes to increasing WVI’s positioning as a thought leader on participatory development and helps maintain a close coordination between the global priorities and the identified local level gaps.
- Develop and deliver the plan to ensure WVI’s advocacy and external engagement are joined-up from the local, national and regional levels through to the global level.
- Alignment beween the global advocacy and external engagement with the local, national and regional level priorities and the identified gaps in policies for children.
- Contribute the field perspective to the overall A&EE global agenda and strategy realization plan.
- Contribute a global perspective of opportunities to hold governments accountable for global and national level commitments.
- Maintain open communication between the regional offices and work effectively with other members of the GC, SOs and GFO teams to ensure full transparency, understanding and support of World Vision’s unique strong voice on critical child rights and/ or SDG issues.
- Ensure effective coordination of local to global engagement around global moments.
- Provide support and guidance to Regional Advocacy Directors.
- Collaboration, dialogue and mutual support between the Regional Offices on Advocacy and External Engagement.
- Provide support to the field (in consultation with ROs) in delivering on the National and Regional accountability reports as part of the Agenda 2030 (VNRs), the global It takes a world campaign, or other global initiatives.
- Communicate and provide guidance to the Regional Offices regarding WVI’s work as part of global partnerships, coalitions and joint ventures.
- Provide support for global advocacy events organized at the regional level.
- Management of the Local to Global Advocacy for Impact team.
- Aligned, well functioning team supporting overall objectives of the A&EE team and Global Centre.
- Leadership and mentoring in support of the Regional Advocacy Directors’ role.
- Develop team culture in line with agreed A&EE behaviours and mindsets.
- Contribute to the overall leadership of the A&EE team.
- Set and monitor the team’s annual workplans and the individual workplans of the team.
- Manage budget.
- Provide support for the integration of advocacy and external engagement in field strategies and project models.
- Collaborate with the GFO in supporting the integration of advocacy, external engagement and campaign (especially global moments) in the strategies and annual implementation plans.
- Provide consultation as needed on the development of Field Offices strategies, based on the global trends and opportunities identified by the larger global A&EE team.
- Minimum 7 year leadership experience working in international development or humanitarian field in CSO context and/or government or multilateral context.
- Significant field experience in international development or humanitarian contexts.
- English language fluency.

Work Environment/Travel:
- The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
