Director, Fundraising Reporting & Analytics

As the Director, Reporting & Analytics, you will play an integral role in Teach For America's fundraising efforts across each of our regions and the organization-at-large through the design and delivery of reporting tools and analytics. Your understanding of regional perspectives and fundraising, passion for developing client-centered reports and technical aptitude (including a general facility with technology and joy in learning it) will help you to design the suite of reports and resources for Development staff at Teach For America. You will influence how and when regional and national stakeholders interact with data by leveraging your abilities to manipulate data, to visualize data in innovative ways, and to design and evolve the tools, systems, and feedback channels needed to do so most effectively. As a trailblazer, you are always looking for new technologies, ideas, and design methodologies to improve your work and the work of your team.

The ideal candidate will also excel at building relationships and project planning and have a track record of exercising strong judgment and operating independently in complex situations. This position is a unique opportunity for an individual with analytic and technical data skills, and communication and relationship building skills. The Director, Reporting & Analytics will report directly to the Managing Director, Reporting & Analytics.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Reporting (60%):

  • Design and produce reports that present information in a way that maximizes insight, action and accountability for end users and leverage sophisticated technical approaches to enable dramatically enhanced team productivity
  • Develop and utilize vibrant feedback channels to enhance and support these reports
  • Evolve and improve our existing suite of reports with a particular focus on ensuring our reports drive action and facilitate learning
  • Grow your skill and expertise in data visualization and reporting
  • Respond to ad-hoc reporting questions and requests via a support inbox for regional teams
  • Manage a portfolio of national teams to serve as the point person for their specific reporting needs and requests

Analytics (15%):

  • Execute projects throughout the fiscal year to identify trends and drive strategy across the team
  • Provide insight into the development team’s year-over-year performance and identify potential threats to the organization’s financial sustainability
  • Analyze development data to forecast outcomes and assess risk

Training & Resources (10%):

  • Manage report building training resources (such as videos and one-pagers) that empower users to customize our templates and develop their reporting skillset
  • Collaborate closely with Knowledge Management to successfully rollout and market reporting tools and dashboards
  • Create trainings and resources to give guidance on how to best leverage reports and promote best practice

Insights (10%):

  • Gain a deep understanding of development in our regions through building relationships with our users and use that knowledge to proactively identify areas of possible training and systems growth
  • Conduct design thinking exercises to facilitate an understanding of a team’s reporting needs

Technology Improvement (5%):

  • Partner with the technology team to develop increased report functionality with our current reporting tools
  • Unlock the greatest potential of our reporting tools by exploring and choosing creative tools that solve technical limitations
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum three years of work experience 
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
  • Experience with Business Objects, Salesforce, or other related technology preferred
  • Experience designing and delivering effective trainings and complex reports tailored to a variety of stakeholders preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new data management technologies quickly
