Under the general, indirect supervision of the Save the Children Site Coordinator, and with technical assistance from the Save the Children Program Specialist, the Tutor will implement various aspects of the Save the Children program model, including supervision of children at all times, rotating groups of children from one activity to another and maintaining good general order and conduct among the children participating in the program.
The Tutor works directly with children and must maintain the highest degree of safety and protection for them. Incumbents of this position will work with Save the Children staff as well as with school staff to ensure good cooperation and collaboration. This position will be responsible for maintaining amiable relationships, assisting Site Coordinator’s in effectively implementing literacy, Healthy Choice and all other program components and providing children participating in our programs effective guidance, control and learning. The Tutor is a “representative” of Save the Children at all school sites of program implementation and therefore is expected to maintain high professional standards and excellent conduct of themselves and all programs and activities.
In addition, the Tutor will be assigned to a specific component(s) of the program for which they are responsible for implementing.
As a Save the Children employee who will come into contact with children on a routine basis, you are expected to prevent child abuse in every situation by striving through mental awareness, good practice and training to minimize risk to children. You must take positive steps to protect children who may be a subject of concern and report and respond to any instance of child abuse and promote training and awareness around all child safeguarding obligations
