What You Will Do:
The Executive Director acts as the chief administrator providing leadership, implementing policies and programs, and stewarding financial and membership growth in carrying out the work of the organization. This person will lead the organization in delivering on the mission to make Tucson a better place for young professionals (21-45 years old) to live, work, and play.
Oversight and Operations:
- Oversee the daily administration of the organization by implementing policies, procedures, and programs
- Ensure quality programming through data driven program evaluation
- Directly supervise the Director of Membership Experience(full-time staff) and implement performance standards; provide direction, coaching and conduct performance reviews for staff

- Oversee the Operational Committees, attending monthly meetings, moving forward key organizational initiatives, and collecting committee reporting for the Board
- Reports to the Board of Directors, maintaining open communication and disclosure of the conditions, operations, and needs of the organization.
- Drafts, presents, and recommends organizational programs and initiatives to the Board
- Collaborates with the board to develop long range goals through a strategic planning process
- Develop, implement, and/or hone financial and operational systems, processes, and best practices with an eye on efficiency and consistency to reduce administration time and focus on delivering on the mission
Financial and Fundraising:
- Oversees preparation of the annual budget in partnership with the Board Treasurer and Executive Committee
- Facilitates periodic audits and compliance activities for the organization, including ensuring proper coverages, protections, and filing practices are in place
- Develops and implements revenue generation strategies that can include sponsorship programs, member drives, corporate group memberships, and grant attainment
- Develop and oversee the delivery of professional development, advocacy, and social events for members and the community at large; this includes the development of the pricing and sponsorship strategy in line with budget goals
- Engage in member acquisition and retention activities; including developing a process for renewing member check ins in partnership with the Membership Committee
- Consistently nurture and close new Corporate Group Member (CGM) leads as passed along from board members.
- Liaise with current CGM’s to understand their service expectations and ensure retention/renewal
Marketing and Communications Strategy:
- Develop and oversee member communications and programs and events marketing strategies that increase engagement and drive member growth
- Develop and oversee Social Media, email campaigns, press releases and storytelling initiatives on behalf of the organization
- Support and direct public relations activities to build and maintain relationships with other organizations and the public
- Serve as the face of TYP and energizes, develops, and nurtures community relationships throughout Southern Arizona that can include partner organizations, economic development leaders, politicians, public servants, corporate and private partnerships, and educational or workforce development institutions
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Essential:
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to develop, iterate, and communicate the organization’s mission and vision, while influencing and coaching employees to peak performance in line with the organization’s mission, vision, and values
- Financial acumen and track record of meeting budget and KPI goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with Board of Directors, government agencies, community leaders, corporate leaders, and the general public
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with an eye for accuracy and efficiency
- Resourceful with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment and at times, with competing priorities and timelines
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours
- Residence in or willingness to relocate to Tucson, AZ
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, or related software
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Experience with event management software
- Experience in fundraising and raising money through events/programming
- Experience with data management and reporting in a CRM or Member Management software
- Knowledge of TYP’s mission, programming, events, and member services
- Proven experience with budget development, management, and reporting
- Understanding of effective communications strategies and marketing campaigns for events and membership organizations
