Site Supervisor

The supervisor is responsible for planning for construction, preparing building sites, and supervising the building of Habitat Choptank homes and rehabs as assigned with volunteers and subcontractors within Dorchester and Talbot Counties.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The supervisor shall work to create a safe and effective work site for volunteers. The supervisor shall teach construction methods and standards to volunteers.
  • The Supervisor shall work with existing homeowners to assess possible repairs and see those repairs through to completion using a mix of volunteers and subcontractors.
  • The supervisor shall perform work along with volunteers including: layout, framing, installing cabinets, trim, windows, doors, siding, soffits, flooring, and other construction duties.
  • The supervisor must have a valid driver’s license.
  • The supervisor must be able to lift 50 lbs., work on ladders and scaffolding.
  • The supervisor shall review plans and specifications in order to be familiar with the steps to be taken to construct homes with good quality, at the lowest cost, and shortest time possible.
  • The supervisor shall schedule inspections with the proper jurisdiction.
  • The supervisor shall schedule subcontractors and coordinate their work.
  • The supervisor shall coordinate the delivery of all material, checking against purchase orders.
  • The supervisor shall be responsible for having the right amount of materials and subcontractors on the job at all times. The construction supervisor will communicate volunteer construction needs to the office on a weekly basis.
  • The supervisor shall inspect each phase of work to determine that it is of acceptable quality and that each trade is finished on schedule.
  • The supervisor shall be responsible for approving, and cost coding, all completed purchase orders and subcontractor pay requests.
  • The supervisor shall be part of the team verifying plans, estimates, construction sheets, and report discrepancies to the Director of Construction.
  • The supervisor shall be responsible for the job until 100% complete and sold to homeowner.
  • After closing, the supervisor shall be responsible for resolving warranty issues by completing outstanding tasks, or coordinating with home owners and subcontractors to ensure timely completion.
  • The supervisor is responsible for directing the work of an AmeriCorps volunteer when applicable.
Additional Information: 

This is a full-time position Tuesdays - Saturdays. Attendance at weekly construction team, monthly Building Committee and Safety Committee, and monthly staff meetings is required at the office in Trappe, MD.
