Habitat for Humanity Choptank is seeking a full-time seasoned development professional who will be responsible for strategically developing, executing, and expanding a diversified fundraising program to support the organization’s mission. Specifically, s/he will be expected to:

Organization DescriptionHabitat Choptank, an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, works in partnership with God and all people to transform communities and the lives of qualifying families in Dorchester and Talbot counties by building simple, decent and affordable homes. Since 1992, the nonprofit has built or rehabbed over 70 homes in partnership with local working individuals and families. These homes are purchased by qualifying, low-income buyers with affordable mortgages empowering them and their families to build stability, strength and self-reliance in their community.

Habitat for Humanity Choptank is seeking a full-time seasoned development professional who will be responsible for strategically developing, executing, and expanding a diversified fundraising program to support the organization’s mission. Specifically, s/he will be expected to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Board of Directors and Executive Director to create a strategic fund raising plan to include contributions from individuals, corporations, organizations, grants and in-kind sources.
- Personally, and in partnership with the Board of Directors and Major Gifts Committee, identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts ($10K+) from sources located in Dorchester and Talbot counties, Maryland.
- Create and implement strategies to identify and cultivate prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, local businesses community organizations and churches, with emphasis on exploring the philanthropic priorities of the organization’s current and past volunteers.
- Create and implement a plan with the Major Gifts committee to maintain mutually-rewarding relationships with existing donors and supporters.
- Coordinate special campaigns such as annual fund, affiliated builds (e.g. Faith Build, Women Build) and house sponsorships.
- Develop a planned giving program with initial emphasis on promoting and securing bequests.
- Maintain transparent, accurate, and timely reporting, information, and donor records commensurate with a high performing development office.
- Supervise part-time development associate in the planning and execution of fund raising, cultivation, appreciation events, and fundraising events; design and creation of collateral materials; generation of database management reports; and management of donor correspondence requirements.
- Work independently and think creatively to raise the funds necessary for the organization to realize its full potential.
Key Requirements:Must be goal-driven, results-oriented and committed to the organization’s effort to expand the Habitat mission in Dorchester and Talbot counties.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proven ability to work effectively as a team leader and team player
- A career history of progressive responsibilities and successful experience in fund raising. Related professional experience, such as sales, may be considered.
- Willingness to steward and forge productive, enjoyable relationships with supporters, staff and volunteers
- Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and adhere to budgets while managing multiple projects simultaneously within defined timelines
- Strong computer skills (experience in effectively running a constituent management system such as Sage Fundraising 50/ Abila or other product desired)
- Experience with planned giving a plus
