  • Supervise volunteers.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director and working with the Volunteer Coordinator, develop appropriate construction work plans for volunteers.
  • Prepare work and material lists for construction and repairs with targeted completion dates.
  • Coordinate all building materials purchases with Senior Construction Supervisor
  • Work collaboratively with Volunteer Construction Committee and participate in other relevant meetings.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Construction Supervisor, assist in ordering, pick up and delivery of donated materials.
  • Ensure all daily construction is within applicable codes and NOHFH construction policies.
  • In collaboration with the Affiliate’s Volunteer Coordinator, engage volunteers and prospective homeowners completing their sweat equity hours in construction related activities with instructions in relevant safety practices and proper task completion oversight.
  • Assist with administration of the Affiliate’s Construction resources including but not limited to the Construction Office tools and materials located at build and office sites.
  • Operate all equipment and vehicles in safe and legal manner.
  • Assist with maintenance of all Affiliate owned property and undeveloped land.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate building files and records.
  • Maintain awareness of additional service and leadership opportunities within NOHFH and provide volunteers with information and encouragement to deepen their Habitat engagement.
  • Hold a thorough understanding and appreciation of Habitat’s mission, local and state work and general familiarity with Habitat’s global work. Communicate Habitat’s mission and work effectively to volunteers.
  • Represent the effectively Affiliate to the public.
  • Provides input to budget process and manages expenditures within approved budget.
  • Respond promptly to emails, texts, phone calls and other communication. All responses should be within 24 hours, texts and phone calls should consistently be within 8 hours.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Appropriate experience in residential construction project management to meet Position Responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with and supervise a wide variety of people with diverse motivation, experience, race, faith, ethnic and cultural dynamics.
  • Possess field management skills and construction experience to assist in identifying costs, potential in-kind donations and time consequences of design decisions.
  • Awareness of all applicable safety protocols and practices with appropriate OSHA and other required certifications or ability to obtain certifications within agreed upon timeline.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy especially in the use of Microsoft Office tools and software products.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • New Jersey Driver’s License or ability to acquire NJ License within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships with volunteers, homeowner families, NOHFH staff and partners.
  • Interactions: This position will interact with all levels of management and the general public. The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively via all modes of communication (face-to-face, writing, phone,e-mail, text, etc.)
  • Working Conditions: Position requires routine exposure to widely varied and sometimes adverse environmental conditions such as weather, dust, heat, noise. Hands-on construction work is often required of this position. Normal work week is 40 hours per week, including weekends.
