The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for an Advocacy Campaign Manager in our Phoenix, AZ office.
This is a temporary, full time, benefits eligible position. Currently this position is funded through 11/2020
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop and deliver specific advocacy campaign projects for assigned grant-funded program.
- Recruit coalition partners with a special emphasis on priority populations and non-traditional partner relationships. Identify needs and gaps of the coalition.
- Educate and engage key stakeholder groups in support of the campaign. Engage partners, including business-related organizations and individuals, in support of the campaign
- Conduct outreach and public education activities. Convene and coordinate coalition and stakeholder meetings.
- Coordinate and oversee social marketing activities. Assist with media and social media outreach
- Maintain resolution and organizational supporter database and relations. Conduct data collection and analysis.
- Track grant expenses and compile routine grant reports. Submit invoices and requests for payments in a timely manner.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree.
Skills/Experience:
- (Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years of experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.)
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in advocacy, public health, government, political campaigns, issue campaigns or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
- Minimum of one (1) year of:
- public health experience and knowledge of public health concepts, or experience with political or issues campaigns.
- volunteer management experience
- project management experience
- Ability to communicate, build relationships, gain trust and effectively work with, train and inspire change across diverse audience of volunteers and partner
- Ability to make presentations to organizations to enlist their support of healthy eating policy campaign as well as recruiting/engaging/mobilizing volunteers in support of the campaign
- Ability to effectively utilize, measure and increase volunteer engagement at all levels
- Ability to communicate strategic direction and consultation to volunteer committees, board members and partner organizations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to travel to meetings or events
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Basic understanding of campaign organization and specific policy goals of the Voices for Healthy Kids initiative/exposure to the Policy Prism a plus.
