Areas of Responsibility:
Annual Fundraising
- Supports, implements, and manages the Association development plan for the YMCA in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, the Senior Director of Development, and the Director of Grants.
- Monitors the achievement of development plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met.
- Actively manages a portfolio of individual, company, and organization donors and prospects with regular visits, calls, and follow-up activities.
- Works with Chief Development Officer, Senior Director of Development, Director of Grants, and Family Center Executives to identify and evaluate major gift opportunities from the Y membership and local community, subsequently developing a portfolio of 50-75 major gift prospects. Conducts research on donors, foundations and grant opportunities from this portfolio, then develops a strategic approach for cultivation, and manages deadlines to secure $300,000+ annually through gifts of $2,500 or more.
- Prepares and provides plan to Chief Development Officer for one-on-one solicitations. Schedules minimum 20 significant face-to-face meetings with prospects and donors monthly.
- Works collaboratively with Chief Development Officer, Senior Director of Development, Director of Grants, Family Center Executives, and Database Coordinators to manage and maintain the fundraising database for major donors and prospects in his/her district.
- Recommends revisions to the development plan as needed to meet financials goals.
Fiscal Management and Data Integrity
- Ensures data related to prospects and donors is recorded and tracked in electronic and hard copy files, manages campaign recordkeeping, evaluates progress towards goals.
- Works collaboratively with Chief Development Officer, Senior Director of Development, and Database Coordinators to ensure donor acknowledgement, stewardship and public recognition, as appropriate. Works collaboratively with Financial Development Team to organize cultivation and recognition events.
- Prepares weekly reports on fundraising efforts and results; presents to the Chief Development Officer.
Community Relationship Building
- Participates in local civic organizations and chambers of commerce throughout district to establish relationships that increase his/her portfolio of prospects.
Educational Background:
BA/BS from an accredited college or university in business, non-profit management, public relations or related field, or equivalent experience required.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, annual campaign, major gifts, moves management, and grant management.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated personal success in donor cultivation, major gifts development, successful gift proposal writing, and meeting fundraising goals.
- Organized strategic thinking with management skills, initiative, and adaptability.
- Familiarity with the principals of campaign organization and communications.
- Experience in working closely with high net worth individuals, foundation leadership and senior-level executives, and volunteers.
- Ability to effectively present information and develop genuine relationships with a variety of constituents, including major donors and volunteers.
- Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission of the YMCA and ability to effectively articulate the importance and impact of its work.
- Strong knowledge of Fundraising “Best Practices”.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00
