SCGA Junior is looking to hire a full-time golf instructor to work with our player and youth development team. We’re passionate about youth and their development through golf. Areas of Responsibility: 

Working within our player and youth development team, the golf instructor position is a full-time position dedicated to providing affordable golf instruction to junior golfers in under-reached areas. The golf instructor is an expert in youth development, teaching golf to juniors and is a leader in the junior golf field. The golf instructor serves as a lead coach while conducting classes and works closely with our program manager to develop, improve and expand the program in San Fernando Valley communities. Primary job duties include: implementing our golf and youth development curriculum adapted from the Titleist Performance Institute, being a positive role model, day-to-day program administration, developing the next generation of golfers through teaching and mentorship at our growing San Fernando Valley communities, as well as developing additional opportunities for instruction participants outside of class.

Skills/Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university is preferred.
  • 2-3 years golf experience required.
  • Experience working in youth development, junior golf instruction and curriculum development.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; must be detailed oriented and wellorganized.
  • Ability to integrate diverse viewpoints, ideas and opinions working with staff and industry stakeholders.
  • Must be willing to learn, be a good team member and bring a creative energy to the position.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.

 

Compensation/Benefits: 

The Golf Instructor position is a full-time, exempt position. The work schedule will be Monday-Thursday and Saturday. Medical, dental and vision benefits are offered in addition to 401k and pension plan. Professional development opportunities are always encouraged for team members to seek out and attend. Pay is determined on experience and job qualifications.

Programs: 

While initially a passive foundation to support charitable activities related to golf, SGCA Junior has been very active since 2008 in creating affordable golf access for Southern California juniors through the SGCA Junior Golf Club. SCGA Junior Golf Club members receive $1-$5 green and range fees at more than 150 facilities in the Southland, an official SCGA/USGA handicap index as well as the opportunity to further engage with the game of golf on and off the course through special playing opportunities and educational outings.

For those who are new to the game or are simply looking to improve their golf skills, SCGA Junior offers an Instructional Program with practices held year round and monthly club outings throughout Southern California.

Active members are also eligible for the SCGA Junior Scholarship Program, which is designed to help juniors further their education and has awarded more than $755,000 in college scholarships since 2008.
