This position advances the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the leadership of the Membership Director, in accordance with the Christian principles of the YMCA, the incumbent is responsible for membership acquisition and promoting program registration to new/current members.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Model the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through your actions and conversation with members
- Engage in active listening with potential members to develop sustainable relationships, determine individual goals and interests
- Greet, Interview and tour future members
- Create outbound calls and emails to generate future members to tour center
- Follow up on membership inquiries
- Responsible for tracking and reporting on all tours that result in membership
- Responsible for follow up of all non-joins within specified time
- Process all memberships via membership software systems and ensure all processes are followed
- Schedule all new members for their MYFITness Appointment
- Connect members to specific programs and services; process program registration with the intent to increase member utilization of other services as needed
- Prospects all non-member program users
- Track and provide sales, terms, recovery and MYFITness enrollment updates monthly to supervisor
- Track and provide number of “quality” conversations, program enrollments, MYFITness enrollments
- Review and assist with the actualizing of member satisfaction surveys and suggestion feedback
- Implements, distributes and communicates all membership marketing campaigns and any sales related promotions
- Assist with center and association member appreciation and recognition event(s) and program(s)
- Educate Members on our not-for-profit mission and increase participation in our Y's Annual Giving Campaign and Volunteer Opportunities
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Previous sales experience preferred
- Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
- An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service within our Centers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- A team player who can develop harmonious relationships with staff, members, guests and volunteers
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office and internet usage)
- Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills
- Superior conflict resolution skills, sound judgment, initiative and independent thinking
