Provides assigned construction project site leadership, supervision, and direct one-on-one work with training/enabling community volunteers who come to work on a Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity home building project.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide on-going training and supervision of volunteers at jobsite.
  • Coordinate with Construction Manager a schedule for utilization of volunteer construction site supervisors and provide update reports to Construction Manager for use at weekly CMHFH staff meetings.
  • Maintain and submit accurate hourly time sheet for self to Construction Manager; work no more than allowed/assigned by Construction Manager.
  • Ensure that accurate time records of volunteer construction site volunteers are filed.
  • Schedule contact two days prior to the work day with any assigned volunteer construction site supervisor to discuss and assign tasks for the day and ascertain specific materials and equipment needed; arrange for equipment/supplies to be transported to the site to have available for work crews.
  • Arrive at work site a minimum of 30 minutes prior to “start-up time” when volunteers arrive, prepare CMHFH waiver sheets, sign-in log and safety materials, and confirm needed equipment is ready for use.
  • WELCOME volunteers, enthusiastically and accurately share the mission and vision of Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity, insure that all volunteers sign-in, review safety practices, and insure that waiver sheets are signed and collected prior to work beginning.
  • Describe the work to be completed, assign volunteers to specific tasks, and provide them with tools and necessary materials to complete the task. Answer questions and concerns in tactful and assuring manner.
  • Involve all volunteers using a team work approach, providing encouragement and positive recognition of individual skills and abilities. Move volunteers on to other tasks as work becomes completed.
  • Submit volunteer sign-up logs and waiver sheets to Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Attend regular CMHFH staff meetings IF REQUESTED, and special Habitat for Humanity events as requested.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Working knowledge of residential construction principles.
  • 4+ years of construction and worksite supervision experience.
  • Ability to work with and train persons of varying abilities; willing to explain / teach various building skills.
  • Ability to travel to CMHFH home building sites in the four-county service area.
  • Willingness to work various part-time hours and complete tangible projects with dedicated volunteers to further the affordable housing mission of Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity.
  • Represent Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity in positive fashion to the public, helping to interpret and embody the ministry and mission.
