We are currently looking for qualified and experienced project staff for a Gender & Disability inclusive Economic Development Grant funded Project which aims to promote economic empowerment and social change by helping Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and vulnerable women in achieving sustainable livelihood & income generation opportunities. The project will work closely with all implementing partners, National & Provincial Government authorities, Disabled People's Organizations (DPO), Producer groups and savings clubs. Funded by the Australian NGO Corporation Programme(ANCP) working in collaboration with World Vision Australia, World Vision Lanka, CBM Australia and Promundo the project will cover Northern & Eastern Provincesof Sri Lanka.

Reporting to the Project Manager iLIVE & working in collaboration with the communications team & subject matter experts, the Communications Officer will be responsible for the production & delivery of communications resources/publications/stories of the iLIVE project to be featured in internal communications & for diverse audience level across a wide range of channels in line with the project guidelines, Policies & Procedures.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop an effective communications strategy for the World Vision Lanka(WVL) iLIVE project & ensure production & dissemination of quality communications resources/stories/videos/social media content of the project
  • Produce a Content Plan, Annual Work Plan & ensure implementation in line with the iLIVE Communications Strategy in collaboration with the project stakeholders
  • Provide required technical support, guidance & direction to increase capacity of staff, community & partners on sector specific standards
  • Establish strong collaboration between partnership/ WVL National office, & field offices for integrated communication , create & maintain comprehensive project documentation & evidence base
  • Regular reflections with stakeholders to monitor project scope, schedule & impact and related changes and communicate to relevant stakeholders for effective delivery of project goals/objectives
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass communication, English, Development studies or related discipline. Diploma in a media related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 3 years experience in communications, media or related role with evidence of resources/publications developed
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy, work methodically and neatly.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Be proactive to work effectively with others on a common task and team work skills.
  • Time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • High level of awareness of global and regional socio-economic, political and environmental issues
  • Excellent oral and written (English) communications skills and proficiency in local languages ( Sinhala /Tamil)
  • Strong interpersonal, networking and organisational skills
  • Videography skills
  • Knowledge in photography, graphic and website design
  • Demonstrated collaboration & team building skills
  • Training, coaching and editing skills
  • Computer literate in MS Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, email & internet
  • Ability to travel extensively within the project area of operations in the Northern Province (Killinochchi & Mullativu)
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills & cross-cultural sensitivity with ability to work well with multi-disciplinary teams
