The Program Director for the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley oversees the coordination, implementation and administration of all aspects of all Federation educational, recreational and campaign related programs.  This includes planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling program activities.  The Program director reports to the Executive Director

Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities

  • Work with Program Committee to develop new and creative programs
  • Supervise Shaliach as directed by Executive Director
  • Involve and engage committee members and community members to ensure that all programs are well planned, organized and have specific goals to achieve
  • Act as the key liaison with third party contractors/partners (i.e. Debartolo Performing Arts Center, Forever Learning Institute, Harold Grinspoon Foundation, etc.)
  • Act as the primary staff person for coordinating campaign programs with direction from the Executive Director and Campaign Chairs
  • Implement programming
  • Organize with the Art Committee, bi-monthly art exhibits for lobby gallery area
  • Provides staff leadership to programs (days, nights and weekends as needed) 
  • Evaluate success of programs against measurable criteria, including surveys, feedback, focus groups, etc.
  • Work with Executive Director to develop and manage an annual budget for the Program Department and conduct performance monitoring for the Program activities
  • Manage program budget and account for money at programs; maintain cash box
  • Coordinate all regular and special programming (ex. Young Adult Leadership, Film Festival, Celebrations, PJ Library, Forever Learning Classes, etc.)
  • Serve as Director of Camp Ideal with Shaliach acting as Assistant Camp Director, developing camp curriculum, recruitment of staff and campers, and coordinating all camp activities
  • Oversee organization program calendar and coordinate with community organizations in developing community calendar
  • Work with Partnership2Gether (P2G) Committee and its programming
  • Write monthly column for Our Community News; submit program information for Our Community News, E-Blasts, Postcards, etc.
  • From time to time, the Executive Director may make modifications in assignments.
  • Partner with Community Relations Committee Director on CRC programs
  • Work in collaboration with Kitchen Supervisor for coordinating food at events and Operations Director for room set-up and facility usage
  • Partner with Jewish Family Services programs
  • Write occasional grants for Federation programs and services
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree or equivelent
Some formal or informal Jewish education
Skills/Experience: 
  • Team Player with customer focused attitude
  • Strong Communication skills (oral and written) and ability to communicate effectively with staff, community members and lay leadership
  • Solid interpersonal skills, confidence and comfort with social conversation, and the ability to build relationships and rapport with members
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously, determine priorities, and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Computer literacy, proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as events or meetings require
  • Previous experience working for a Jewish Federation or Jewish Community Center is advantageous, but an interest in a diverse Jewish community and the belief in the Jewish Federation mission is a must
Compensation/Benefits: 

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

The Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley offers a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the individual selected.
