Works with the VP of Philanthropy, the branches, operating units and special volunteer groups to advance the philanthropic needs of the YMCA and to assist in achieving maximum income from fundraising events, grants, and contributions. Leads the development and management of fundraising database systems for the Y.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  1. Works with VP of Philanthropy to coordinate and execute the overall fundraising plan to solicit current and future donors.
  2. Maintains all pertinent data/material required for productive fundraising, including donor records and program impact on web-based data management systems.
  3. Responsible for donor stewardship process, including receipt, recording, and thanking for gifts to all branches of the YMCA of Michiana in a timely manner.
  4. Manages a calendar for fundraising events and grants.
  5. Works with staff and volunteers to plan and execute fundraising events.
  6. Assists in planning, coordinating and setting up for committee meetings and event functions.
  7. Provides effective support to event volunteers to meet financial and participation goals.
  8. Researches grant opportunities; with appropriate input from YMCA staff, manages grants received.
  9. Able to communicate to others how the YMCA supports kids, adults, and families in the community.   
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three years or more of related experience working at or volunteering in a working capacity for a nonprofit.
  • Three years or more of demonstrated expertise in planning and implementing special events.
  • Three years or more of proven experience in successful grant management. 
  • Associates Degree (Bachelor’s Degree Preferred) in a relevant field or 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • High level of experience working with database management (knowledge of donor database management a plus).
  • Established ability to relate to top community leaders.
  • Expertise in working with volunteers.  
  • Highly-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office and Google Systems required.
  • Understands the mission of the YMCA.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team in securing funds through grant writing and/or special events.
