Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a service-oriented professional to join the Smyrna ReStore team as an Associate. In this role, you will be responsible for processing and accepting payments for the purchase of items, answering general questions about the store and its merchandise, welcoming customers to the store and assisting customers. This position is located at the Habitat ReStore in Smyrna, Georgia.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a unique retail outlet where you can purchase quality new and gently used items at excellent prices while helping Habitat for Humanity eliminate poverty housing in our community.

Revenue generated by the ReStore provides the local Habitat for Humanity program & Habitat for Humanity International with much-needed funds to assist in building homes and hope for families in our community and around the world. It also helps to keep thousands of tons of unwanted merchandise out of our landfills.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Operate a cash register to document sale of merchandise
  • Process cash, credit card and check transactions
  • Maintain and balance cash drawer at the end of each day
  • Greet customers, answer questions and provide assistance as needed
  • Answer telephone and provide store information, directions, etc. to callers
  • Maintain orderly and clean purchase and showroom areas
  • Apply pricing stickers to merchandise following pricing procedures
  • Direct pricing and operation questions to Store Manager or designated staff
  • Regularly communicate with Store Manager regarding sales issues and problems
  • Recommend new/better methods of completing assigned tasks as needed
Educational Background: 
High School diploma or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 1 year of experience in Retail and/or Customer Service
  • Familiar with computer technology related to Point of Sale retail systems
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to respond to high standards of customer satisfaction
  • Reasonable familiarity with building materials
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, squat, bend and stand for extended periods
