To provide strategic leadership to the Asia Pacific Region specially Regional Office key stakeholders and Field Offices in developing integrated and contextualized national, regional, strategies that are consistent with our faith perspectives and ethos and are a catalyst for transformational change.

Strengthening WV’s engagement with churches, Christian agencies and other faith based organizations and encourage strategic alliances with them to enhance our shared mission for the wellbeing of children.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Leadership:

  • Advise and support the Asia Pacific Regional Leadership, especially the Senior Director of Operations on issues related to WV’s faith identity and commitments as expressed in WV’s Strategic Imperatives, especially in imperative 5 of Our
  • Promise, Live out our faith and calling in boldness and humility.
  • Encourage and support the integration of WV’s faith identity and commitments in all organizational processes and practices and alignment with WV’s Vision Mission and Core Values
  • Develop and manage Faith & Development regional team.
  • Build networks with Field Office Faith and Development staff, to provide necessary leadership, support and opportunities for cross-regional learning.
  • Engage and relate with internal and external entities and networks in matters related to Faith & Development.
  • Provide theological thought Leadership to position WV in the religious landscape of the region focusing on child well-being issues to foster successful cooperation.

Strategy:

  • Lead the development of a context appropriate Regional Office Faith & Development strategies, priorities and plans that are aligned to the Strategic Imperatives of Our Promise.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Faith & Development regional priorities and annual business plan in support of and in alignment with the Strategic Imperatives of Our Promise.
  • Collaborate with other regional technical, ministry and support functions to ensure that our faith identity is integrated in their strategies and priorities.

Operational & Technical Support:

  • Support the National Offices to find practical ways to integrate faith identity into their country strategies and plans, in ways that are appropriate to their context and aligned with Our Promise.
  • Contribute to the development of global policies, guidelines and standards relating to Faith & Development and provide leadership in conceptualizing and mainstreaming them within the region.
  • Support NO in the integration of our faith perspectives in key ministries such as People & Culture, DME, Health, EAD, Child Focus/Protection, HEA and Advocacy.
  • Provide leadership for regional Faith and Development initiatives especially on cross-cutting issues which affect multiple offices in the region.
  • Facilitate better understanding of different faith traditions among regional and national leadership and support the development of programs for deepened understanding and collaboration with people and organizations of different faiths.
  • Facilitate regional Faith & Development communications, mutual exchange of ideas and learning and sharing of information and assist in the development and distribution of related resource material.
  • Administer and manage the budget of regional Faith & Development programs and events.

Capacity Building & Knowledge Management:

  • Ensure national offices have adequate capacity in Faith & Development to deliver Our Promise.
  • Facilitate better understanding of different faiths among regional and national offices leadership and their development of programs for mutual understanding and effective interfaith engagement and mutual learning among National Offices with Regional Office and other regions.
  • Providing timely, responsive and constructive mentoring and coaching for F&D leads at NOs to enable them to perform their roles well.
  • Collaborate with the People & Culture team and regional leadership in staff recruitment, orientation and spiritual nurture processes to strengthen understanding and practice of holistic mission.
  • Facilitate the development of appropriate regional Faith & Development forum / networks.
  • Identify research and study key issues related to Faith and Development in the region and share promising practices with key stakeholders.

Quality Assurance:

  • Support the regional leadership, especially the Senior Director of Operations in addressing ministry quality issues and needs related to Faith & Development in the region.
  • Ensure National Offices adherence to policies, protocols and standards related to Faith & Development.
  • Support contextualized integration of our faith commitments in program design and implementation for effective cooperation and mutual understanding with churches and with people of different faiths in our programs.

Internal Liaison & Coordination:

  • Act as a strategic link and focal point for regional Faith & Development connecting National Offices, Support Offices and Global Center to mutually support each other.
  • Participate in the partnership forums, working groups and networks related to Faith & Development as deemed necessary by regional leadership.
  • Work with other members of the regional team to ensure that Faith & Development is integrated within the wider ministry of World Vision in the region.

External Relations:

  • Provide leadership in strengthening WV’s regional relationship with churches, Christian agencies and different faith-based organizations, and encourage strategic alliances with them to enhance our shared mission to the poor.
  • Provide support to the regional leadership in engaging with appropriate external groups in relation to Faith & Development.
  • Engage with relevant entities and academic institutions in the region on issues related to Faith & Development in the Asian context.
  • Develop and maintain good external relations with key leaders of other faiths to foster collaborative relationship and networks in the region.
  • Support national and regional offices to effectively integrate faith perspectives into their ‘It Takes a World’ campaigns to end violence against children.

General:

  • Work closely with other functions within the region to promote mutual learning, support and accountability
  • Facilitate and support activities that enrich spiritual formation, prayer and discernment in the region.
Educational Background: 
Post graduate studies in  development/theology/missions/sociology, preferably with an emphasis on mission and development.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Formal theological training.
  • Deep Understanding of Christian Mission and its relationship to development and relief.
  • High level of awareness of global and regional religious, socio-economic, political and environmental issues.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, networking, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong cross cultural skills, appreciation for different forms of Christian faith expression, and ability to work with people of different faiths.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and collaboration skills.
  • Good understanding and commitment to WV’s ethos, philosophy of ministry and core documents.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership position in churches or Christian development and relief agency, especially in the area of integrating faith and development.
  • Proved experience in engaging with different faith traditions and diverse Christian denominations.

Work Environment/Travel:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
